#7 ended his final practice at SC on the sidelines.
Exactly one year after Matt Barkley stood in front of a Christmas tree in Heritage Hall and uttered the two words that are now used ironically by the cackling anti-SC peanut gallery, he finished his final practice at Howard Jones Field as a non-participant. Barkley remains listed as highly questionable for the Sun Bowl next week.
A Kiffin quote From ESPNLA:
Barkley attended the Trojans' final practice this season at Howard Jones Field but watched as freshman Max Wittek took the majority of snaps with the first-team offense. Freshman Cody Kessler also took some snaps under center.
USC coach Lane Kiffin said Barkley, who has been nursing a strained right shoulder for five weeks, will be evaluated again when the Trojans arrive in El Paso...
"We're going to look at it when we get down there and see if (Barkley) can practice," Kiffin said. "The one positive about (Barkley) not being here is (Wittek and Kessler) get more reps. It's going to help both of them."
At this point, it might be better for Barkley to not play and get back to health for the NFL Combine, but I don't think he wants his final moment in a Trojan uniform to be on his back with a busted shoulder in front of thousands of UCLA fans.
