Didn't know he wasn't happy...

Any word on why he’s leaving?

I have to confess, it worries me a bit when we see guys leaving right as the scholarship caps take effect, when continuity is going to count even more than usual.

Actually it helps the scholarship cap years because we can get enough player this year.

the 75 limit is the focus not so much the 15 so he brings down the limit and we can replace him this year with the kid from the east.

Yes we can't play in a Bowl and that is lucky for the rest of College FB' but next year we at USC will dominate.

I get the cap benefit

I was more worried about how many more kids were planning on bailing because that would theoretically increase the odds of valleys in production with limited depth to try and compensate.

But we have a lot of receivers that are great and sitting he got in 10 games last year but only 1 catch

He was in the class of 2010 18 recruits and now 4 are gone, depth I really don’t think it matters at the skilled positions as much as the OL and DL and LB.

If he wasn't injured so much his freshman year I think this wouldn't have happen.

Most of these guys want to start and he did play a lot last year but I guess he feels that he wasn’t on the field enough, its ok we will be alright.

I am guessing that the staff is talking to players

whom they think can contribute elsewhere but may have trouble getting significant playing time.

Agree

If Prater was going to be an impact player at USC, then he already would have made an impact.

A Quick Note for the Quitters
No comment from this thread will be deleted. You will have to own them when we get it turned around and beat Southern Cal. You will never ride the bandwagon when we come back. Not on BN. GO BRUINS.

Should transfer to Wisconsin

or Michigan.

Big receivers with jump ball skills like Prater will do well there.

In the new “spread-y” Pac-12, not so much.

Prater was like Carlisle, a good kid with good skills who will be missed, but whose physical abilities were somewhat in between.

Prater wasn’t rugged like BMW, but not as technically advanced as Woods or as smooth as Lee. He is not a stretch the field WR.

Plus he was an OSS commit. Transferring back to the Midwest will allow his family to watch him play.

SC needs to get under the 75 limit, whole projecting for needs one or two years after the sanctions end.

Next transfer prediction — Scroggins.

Not surprising... and not a bad thing.

Best of luck to him elsewhere. He was going to struggle to get significant time this upcoming season and he had too much to overcome, I guess… but I hope we can see him do well when he heads somewhere new.

Playing time plain and simple

Can’t blame him considering he wasn’t going to beat out Woods and Lee, and was going to get a lot of pressure from Farmer, Blackwell and Rodgers. If he wanted to leave, now was the time, not next year. This way he will still have two years to play after sitting out one.

I can't understand what goes thru the minds of some of these kids...

Sure Prater isn’t the stud WR he was suppose to be but you never know about injuries and it’s almost a given that Woods will be gone by the end of next year. Why not stick it out and get a degree from one of the best universities in the country?

And although it’s not the case with Prater at the moment but I’m not a fan of Kiffen letting AC transfer to ND. It’s a knife in the back and honestly, I don’t know how many other coaches would let a player transfer to a rival school.

No offense here,

but either way you slice it, he’d be better off transferring to Wisconsin or Northwestern. He will absolutely get more playing time at either school, and as far as the degree goes, forgive me, but either of those two would are better than USC. Let me be clear, I’m not taking a dig at USC, but Northwestern and Wisconsin are two of the best academic universities in the country.

haha

And in my rush to say they’re better schools, I made an awful editing error.

Whoops, USC is higher than I last saw, my bad.

UW is still a top-10 public school, but lower overall than in years past, at #42.

At least one thing is for sure, aside from Vandy, the SEC is not well represented.
