GameDay Open Thread USC vs Arizona St.

Arizona St. Sun Devils at USC Trojans, Jan 5, 2012 7:30 PM PST

The Sun Devils come to Galen tonight...minus three players.

Arizona State will be without three players when it faces USC tonight, according to a report by the Arizona Republic.

The Republic said Mater Dei graduate Keala King, fellow starter Kyle Cain and reserve Chris Colvin were suspended for “unacceptable conduct,” and did not make the Sun Devils’ trip to Southern California.

So, I guess that means USC has a chance?

We are so crashingly bad right now . . .

It is impossible to work up any outrage.

We could be the worst team in the Pac-12.

Hopefully, we will see some improvement.

But if we play like this the rest of the year, I don’t see how you can retain O’Neill. A new multimillion dollar arena more than three-quarters empty during your conference schedule? And if it does fill up, more than half the fans at any one game are fans of the other team?

I understand preaching patience but at a certain point you need to give the players, the students and the fans something to get excited about. Right now it seems like everyone, even the basketball team, is counting down the days to spring practice.

Agree

I think your 3rd paragraph hit the nail on the head…."you need to give the players, the students and fans something to get excited about’. This is exactly what seems to be missing – no spark what so ever; it is less than entertaining. The team looks ill-prepared from the start of each game and while there have been injuries – taking out 2 (?) starters; it can’t explain the complete lack of umpfff… if there is such a word.

Give the team to Bob Cantu,

they’ll play well for him. This will give PH the necessary lead time to search for the right coach and create a splash at the end of the Pac-12 season.

If the football team mailed in a performance like that

This post would have 100’s of comments, and the USC Football boards on Rivals would be in danger of exceeding their bandwidth.

But with the basketball teams playing like Larry Smith’s final year, there is nothing but ‘crickets.’

One problem, at least as to getting a head coaching change, is that the entire Pac-12 is very lack-luster this year. Doesn’t seem like UCLA or Arizona are all the fired up this year either. If your conference rivals are treading water, why spend time and money and something that ultimately too many fans don’t care about.

One of the odder things about the Scott Era is that the Pac-12 is now the Big East in reverse: a “premier” football conference (it’s not USC and the Nine Dwarfs anymore) but a mid-major basketball conference.

I really don't need to comment why, because since last year I wanted KO gone the dude is Nucking Futs.

Yes we can't play in a Bowl and that is lucky for the rest of College FB' but next year we at USC will dominate.

Or one could look at as opportunity to possibly catch some fire and get something done.

Admit it! You would take Tim Floyd back in a New York minute.

Just rehashing an old argument guys

Zoulou always felt USC could do a lot better than Floyd.
