USC tops UCLA in USNEWS Report again

USC ranked #23 while ucla ranked #25 in the USNEWS report's ranking of colleges. This is the 2nd straight year we've topped them.

I don't put too much stock in this (you get out what you put in) but we can find 5 years of posts on BN citing these rankings, and they've magically disappeared the last 2 years...

What I hear

is that the state schools are having a hard time paying their professors the high salaries that they can get at a private school like USC. USC is taking advantage of the fire sale on all the good profs.

Yeah

I know we picked up 1 or 2 of their top professors (I believe engineering, not positive though) recently. California’s budget troubles don’t seem to have an end in sight, so this problem is only going to expand for them.

USNWR University Rankings -2012
UCLA comes in 25th, SC in a two-way tie for 23rd.
I know there are better ranking systems out there, but same as last year – the optics of this suck. USNWR is the one that 90% of all parents & HS kids will pay attention to.
Seems like we should learn how to game the system :-P

Btw, it’s not her. Oh, she’s an idiot alright (most college students are), but that’s where it should have ended.

Instead, in a binge of typical Ucla and BN mass hysteria it ends with death threats and this dumb-ass girl having to leave school. Might as well burn down all the sororities and salt their fields, the frats too. Really, who in his/her right mind would want to go to Ucla?
