Conquest Chronicles Links for 7/20/11
Here is today's offering.
Some Notes on today's links...
-- The news on Steve Dillon not qualifying isn't exactly earth shattering. Dillon has had trouble getting his grades together for a while. Could be a blessing though, why waste a scholarship on a kid that might be an academic casualty later on?
-- I got a kick out of reading the article on ND. The writer tries to make them sound like world beaters. The defense struggled all year and we had Mitch Mustain at QB with Kifin holding the reins tight........Riiiight.
-- I am loathe to link to Plaschke, but I did so because once again uncle Bill lets his bias show in trashing of Pete Carroll in order to pump up Lane Kiffin. Different coaches with different styles can we just leave it at that Bill?
-- Richard Sandomir continues to carry ESPN's water. Again, simply asked...If Bruce Feldman isn't suspended then where is he?
-- Awful Announcing counters Sandomir, ESPN et. al.
-- I'm telling you, the Hoops story by SI is going to be a real big deal if it is determined that players were steered to coaches who invested in this now deceased AAU coach. The ultimate scam...

Read the Plaschke and 2 articles on Poynter/ESPN Ombudsman piece RE: Feldman
In the Plaschke one, WOW! That guy normally piles on with irrelevant verbiage. Has he been reduced to some mild-mannered hack with a priority for candor? He only cited one incident from the Pete Carroll-era, when he normally would elect to pile on. Unfortunately, the incident he picked was a darn good one: Rey “We Own ’da Police” Maualuga. (i just have to say this. the rey-rey incident was kinda funny. . . . . at the time. . . . wow, scary !!)
Both articles regarding Ms. McBride’s piece regarding the Bruce Feldman situation at ESPN. And, like I commented in yesterday’s links, these two reviews came to the same conclusions. The Ombudsman at ESPN presented a one-sided critique of the situation and simply parroted what the World Wide Leader in Sports has devised for PR-damage control. In the www.awfulannouncing.com piece titled “We’ve Lost The Ombudsman”- it was a fantastic read and pretty much said all the things I wrote, as well.
Especially the fact that ESPN is still lying in bed with Craig James. The guy is dead weight and he’s really KILLING THE COMPANY. You think?

I see over at loser nation they can't even spell Tyler
That’s funny because they have turned the thread into a pissing contest over which academic ranking is right. But of course they are not happy with a 1 game suspension, so maybe Kiff should take away the ucla game also. Let’s face it we could show up with a frat team and compete with those losers, can’t believe Pasadena allows them to play at the Rose Bowl any longer. They are also happy that Mark choose USC over ucla since he is a trouble maker and not a handicap sticker user. Really it is so admirable to take some handicap persons spot so the poor football player diesnt have to walk to far, so classy.
Remember if it smells bad it must be bRuin!
Who--What--Slim Shady----the ncaa is after all the BS they are lying out----and just remember they will rewrite history every seven years after the fact. Tennesse will get off with nothing on the violations, but that really doesn't matter they suck anyway.

Did you read the Wilner link?
He predicts fUcla to place 4th.
. . . . . 4th place in the Pac 12 South! I mean, dang! I thought “this was Neu’s year” this year? Wilner is but one prognosticator among many in college football, and yet- he, too, picks USC to come out on top in the Pac 12 South. Wasn’t there some talk of a monopoly being over? Listen, USC has been hit with the most harshest sanctions since, . . . .(my opinion of it is) SMU- we have had a coaching change to replace a soon-to-be Hall of Fame coach, staff overhaul, makeshift OL, LB shortage, and a not-yet-met-full-potential starting QB . . . AND STILL ? We might not own ’da police, but we sure do OWN BRUIN ASS!

True story
Overlooking a totaled car that was only recently purchased, which was parked and sideswiped (by- what looked like a tractor-trailer) in the middle of the night- my buddy leans over and asks his dad, “How much you think I can get for it?” His dad replies, “How much is scrap metal going for these days?”
bRUIN ass? Less than scrap metal, I figure?

Funny thing is that they are even relevant in college Basketball anymore.
With the state economic problems I don’t really see them winning in any revenue sports in the future, so what will the BN fanatics do in their pizza delivery spare time.
