USC's Marc Tyler just doesn't get it...
Why doesn't Marc Tyler get it?
Tyler is already under scrutiny by the school for some past alleged alcohol related issues so I am trying to figure out why he would put himself in this position.
Here is the link
Tyler is seen by some as one of the "entitlement kids" from the PC era. Kiffin has slowly but surely weeded that type of attitude out of the program. Tyler is one of the last hold outs.
This was Tyler's time to step up and be a leader. He is a 5th year senior, not some wet behind the ears freshman. Who knows what Tyler's personal demons are. I know college kids do stupid things, but with what Tyler is facing in the form of disciplinary action from the school, it is pretty clear that he just doesn't use good judgment.
Laying low and cleaning up your act is the order of the day.
With the severity of the sanctions that USC is now under, one would think that Tyler would engage his brain before engaging his mouth. You can't even joke about the things he said so I am not buying into "I was just joking" angle.
Use your head for something more than a hat rack Marc!
What a waste of talent.
This could be the final straw...I just don't see Kiffin putting up with this, not with Tyler's past history.
But I don't know.
Guess we will find out soon enough...

Well I guess the other guys will get their turns at TB this fall.
Morgan, Baxter and Moody have to jumping for joy since Tyler pretty much had this position locked up, but not anymore.
Who--What--Slim Shady----the ncaa is after all the BS they are lying out----and just remember they will rewrite history every seven years after the fact. Tennesse will get off with nothing on the violations, but that really doesn't matter they suck anyway.

I am glad that neither I, nor more than a few people I have ever met are affected by alcohol to that level.

Totally, man!
Marc Tyler has a baby, his dad’s kinda tore-up too (medically), which means he’s got a woman he MUST help in some fashion raising his new child, AND HE’S STILL in college/hasn’t received his BA yet. What’s this cat doing drankin’, and clownin’ around like he does?
Last year, I read a great piece about him in the LA Times. To summarize, the article concluded by describing Tyler’s hard-scrabble underclass years, his family and personal struggles he was successfully overcoming, and for the world to, basically- “watch out for his junior season comeback!”
Despite being painfully “young”- considering the fallout USC’s athletic program is experiencing at this time, his actions are totally inexcusable. I don’t think they’ll amount to much as far as him being punished, I hope he gets reprimanded/punished hard enough to help accelerate growth for his obvious immaturity.

I agree and all that too. I just mean I (and most of the people I know), can drink to the point of sickness or blacking out and never start acting like that. For some people alcohol takes them to a whole ‘nother level. They either become belligerent or stupid. That video was pretty stupid, even ignoring the possible ramifications for him as a member of the USC football team. People like that are irritating, look at the expression on his friend’s faces.

Too true!
There exists some scientific fact that certain blood-lines have a genetic predisposition which cannot properly metabolize alcohol. Marc Tyler may very well fit in this group because this “allele” trait, although uncommon- generally, is specific to certain African and Native American cultures.
I won’t pass this off as a “genetic predisposition”- no way. It might be a factor, but I’ll err on the side of caution and just chalk this up to being young, brazen, and narcissistic. There, that oughtta ’bout cover it!

5th Year Senior....No Excuses!
After watching this episode on TMZ:

It’s clear to me and hopefully to Coach Kiffin, there is no place on the team for an ass-clown like Tyler.
