Reggie Bush Speaks to ESPN...Says Nothing
Reggie Bush was interviewed on ESPN last night.
The relevant part is at the 2:20 mark.
Nothing new to report...same old answers from Reggie, not even apology.
Not like I am surprised.
I thought we were going to get an explanation...that people would understand when it all came out.
We have moved on...it is time that Reggie does too.

Reggie is going to have his hands full . . . . .
. . . . trying to keep Mark Ingram from being up on his heels.
Good luck, Reg!

Fuck Reggie and fuck his parents. He doesn’t seem like the kind of idiot who will be broke within five years of retiring and paying child support to six different women but I hope I’m wrong.

He's burning through his money like a crackhead who just won the lotto
Miserable and broke is what he will be and he’ll come crawling back to USC. On game days, you’ll see Reggie sitting at a card table on the Peristyle end of the Coli trying to sell autographed pics for $20. I will not be buying.

Mixed feelings on Reggie
On one hand he’s a Trojan, and I feel that I can’t really divorce myself from that fact. We stick together, even though he hurt the program badly. He did give me some of the greatest football memories that I will probably ever have. 66-17 still cheers me up when I’m a little depressed. I pop the DVD in, and watch bruin follies and it makes me smile. I don’t give a rip that its a vacated win, it still makes me laugh.
Reggie has destroyed his legacy. He has disgraced himself. When you say the name Reggie Bush the first thing that will come to everyone’s mind is “cheater.” No one is going to think of him as Superbowl Champ, or Heisman Trophy winner. His legacy will be “The guy who left USC in shambles and lost the Heisman.”
That’s punishment enough for me. I’m not going to worship the guy, but I feel no need to pile on Reggie.
I’d like to think that deep in some corner of his mind, he was doing it for Old SC. Problem is, he wasn’t really a Trojan, it was all about Reggie and no one else.

I don't buy that
I think Reggie just saw all the money that was being made off of him, and wanted his slice of the pie. Yeah he was a selfish prick, but he was our selfish prick. That’s all I’m saying.
Reggie's family got him into this
I harbor no ill will toward Reggie. In fact, I’m still a fan. Most kids will stick with their family, right or wrong. The Reggie hate is sad, IMO. He’s a symptom, not the cause of the illness.

I agree that this was the case while Reggie was in school, but he had many many opportunities to end it when he move on to the pros. He made a conscious decision to burn USC just to hold on to (steal) a couple hundred thousand he took from Lake. This is why I have zero respect or consideration for this selfish little prick.
Do I hate him? No, he’s not worth the effort.

Plus we all don't really know how it all went down only the Bushes know that, why couldn't his step dad just make Crystal Meth out of a motor home.

I don't hate Reggie either
But at the same time, in order for me to move on- I must take some comfort in finding some degree of humor in people roasting him.
I’d like to think that Reggie is miserable at how this whole mess transpired. I believe his intentions weren’t to leave us in shambles, but in the end- his actions bespeak of an individual who took care of himself and his family.
Funny, that in taking care of himself and his family- he ruined them completely. He took a “short-sighted” approach. When in hindsight- had he tried to protect USC by paying off Lake, he would have saved ALL his families. His blood family, and his Trojan family.
He took the defensive and went the “based on principles”-route in dealing with Lake. He was given such terrible advice, as was AD Garrett. We can’t do much about it now except take jabs at Bush and Garrett, try to accept our sanctions and penalty, and look forward to post-sanctions and what it means to be Trojan.
I don’t wish ill-will on Reggie (LaMarr? different story, perhaps) and I sincerely hope he finds his way in life. I’ll laugh my ass off at the disparaging things said about him though. I won’t defend him like I used to. It’s not that I want to personally “dissassociate” him from Trojan Nation, but he lost any favor he had with any one of us. I will always shout:
Fight On! Reggie!
and . . . .“REG-GIE, REG-GIE, REG-GIE!” when I see him do well on Sundays.
As stated before, Good luck, Reg!

His reputation and legacy are gone
He has his millions. Maybe money is more important to the Bush’s than their good name. It better be, because that’s what they are left with. Can they look at themselves in the mirror. WIth 50 million, I bet they can.
Good one!
I especially liked this part, “With 50 million, I bet they can.” (I agree with you- even if the mirror is teeny-tiny-small)
I’m of the belief that Mark Ingram can displace Reggie- or push him further down the depth chart on the Saint’s roster. Reggie is more versatile, but as far as being a body in the backfield, Ingram (if he’s healthy) can and will get more touches. They’re different backs, and Reggie seems to have lost his “speed” that he had as a college player (or the NFL defenses can more easily track, catch, and tackle him in space and coming off or outside the LOS). Ingram is scary fast, as powerful as Allen Bradford, and is one of the more instinctive rookie RB’s of last year’s draft. He can create from broken plays, get the first down on 3rd downs, and has a nose for the endzone.
In a way, I think Reggie hasn’t met his expectations as a pro player. The best thing Ingram has going for him now, is his potential.
I’m not saying Ingram will be an NFL star, but I think he’ll produce more yards and score more touchdowns (if he’s healthy) than Reggie will this year.

Heard some buzz about Reggie going to the Dolphins
Reggie has had big moments and strong production when healthy. I’d love to see him have a strong season after this scandal. America loves a comeback.

I'd love to see him shoot all his critcs (performance on field critics) DOWN!
Like the NCAA to USC, Reggie Bush is held to a higher standard in the general fan’s perspective. They expect him to be the college player. He gets his touches and, in some instances- he gets stuffed. He doesn’t seem to have the explosiveness anymore and NFL defenses are keyed on his ass because they know what he can do if they make a mistake on him.
So far, not many NFL defenses make mistakes against him.
What’s frustrating is seeing other Saints’ backs essentially eat through the same defenses from time to time.
The time as “Reggie as a decoy” has come to an end. The jig is up. If Reggie is to flourish once more, he must flourish as an every-down back coming out of the backfield. And I think “that’s what” Mark Ingram has got that Reggie so desperately needs: the true running back tag!
It will be a day of relief for me to see Reggie run like he used to. He was one badass m-fer.
In response to the 2001 Miami Hurricanes vs. 2004 USC Trojans: USC, by a slim margin. We had OFFENSE and DEFENSE, in spades!!!! (and they took it away from us. unbelievable)

I think Ingram will not be a factor
The guy hasn’t played one down in the NFL. He isn’t Adrian Peterson. This undersized guy is going to get his ass handed to him.
The man played and won a Heisman in the SEC
Now, I don’t think the SEC is God’s college football conference- but Ingram playing against those fast defenses with all those high-caliber coaches and those intense rivalries AND DOING WELL ENOUGH TO WIN THE HEISMAN is actually saying something. Like, as far as running backs are concerned- with the yardage he put up and the highlight reel runs he entertained us with, his particular “size” isn’t going to mean much (as a detriment) in the NFL.
His size is bigger than Barry Sanders, btw. . . .just saying. I’m not saying Ingram is equivalent to Sanders- because, as you’ve stated- he hasn’t played a down in the NFL. But what would be your assessment of Sanders’ size and how that effected his professional career?

I don't think that there was
an extraordinary athlete in the year that Ingram won. His stats were lackluster compared to Gerhardt, who should have won the thing. I’m just not impressed with Ingram. Who knows? Maybe he will prove me wrong.
I can buy all that
It was the “size” thing that took me by surprise.

I haven't seen a single thing from Ingram
that would make me think of him and Barry Sanders in the same sentence. He’s a decent back, but not an every game back in the NFL. He is going to get stuffed.
Who knows? Just like you said. . . .
And I hate to bring up the name Maurice Jones-Drew, but people said the same thing about him, his size, and his role in the NFL.
Ingram’s got a few things working in his favor: pedigree, coaching, (on the field) instinct & vision, hard work, and strong character. These traits will suit him well in learning the NFL game. I remember you predicting that Mark Sanchez wouldn’t do well in the NFL too.
We’ll see if I’m right about Mark Ingram too.

It's pretty much been said here already, but in the end
Reggie acted selfishly, while likely not realizing the full consequences of his actions. He was incredibly short sighted not to pay Lake, and USC paid the price for it – all he lost was his reputation.
I have great memories of watching him play on Saturdays, and I’ll always love those….but as great as he was for USC in continuing the legacy of Tailback U, he also set back the university’s reputation far more than he helped build it up, and that’s what hurts the most. I want to like the guy for what he did on the field, but his stubbornness and selfishness off the field make me wince.
