Rewriting History?
Saunders can't even get the story right. USC was never cited for recruiting violations. That was never an issue.
Once again, where is the AD to correct this misinformation? If you hear the same thing over and over people tend to see it as gospel.

Exactly what is Haden Supposed to do?
Monitor 24/7 the nitwit media? The numbers of nitwits in the media are legion, and worse of all is the sports media. It’s a slum.
There are enough people out there who think SC did get screwed, but if John Saunders, who works for a large media conglomerate that ostensibly has resources to employ fact-checkers, doesn’t care about facts, there isn’t much an AD can do. Write a strongly-worded letter? Jeez, with the level of media ignorance that exists, that’s all he do in his waking hours.
John Saunders, like many broadcasters, did not get to his position by being a solid journalist who is impeccible with his facts. He got to where he is because he is a decent looking man with a smooth delivery. In short, he’s an empty suit with a nice voice.
I don't think Haden has to monitor it 24/7...
But I do beleive he should take action when someone calls blatant errors to his attention. In this case, a major network has acused USC of violations (recruiting violations) which it did not commit. ESPN should be notified of this error, and USC should request a retraction. A public retraction by John Saunders would help set the record straight. If ESPN/Saunders is unwilling to provide a retraction, a libel suit would do even more to set the record straight. Statements like this are both false and damaging.
Yes Haden should get off his butt and respond to all of the crap that is out there, but it is kind of funny how all these media outlet make FOOLS of themselves.
Who--What--Slim Shady----the ncaa is after all the BS they are lying out----and just remember they will rewrite history every seven years after the fact.

He should respond
His job is protect the integrity of the Athletic Department.
That includes a public relations component of getting ahead of scurrilous rumors like these.
No, he should monitor 24/7, but on those occasions false info comes to his attention, a response is warranted.
He should ask for a correction from ESPN. There were no recruiting violations.
When was the last time that ESPN made a correction?
Or admitted any kind of error. Ever.
I think the issue is that while ESPN holds its self out as some sort of journalistic enterprise, it is, in fact, an entertainment and sports programming network. There ain’t no “J” in ESPN.
At times, they do decent work. But remember, this is the network that thought it was a good idea to air “The Decision.”
yes 'the decision' was high a point
for low ‘ego-journalism’……

ESPN is a joke
but, so is USC’s PR support for athletics. A simple public statement correcting Saunders was warranted. And, about 1,000 similar corrections have been needed over the last 5 years. Might public perception of USC be more favorable and accurate if USC had the backbone to protect our brand in the public’s eye?

Definately....
It is spell bounding how the myths of ‘what when on, the source of $ and benefits’ and the Uni was supposedly at the center of it all paying Bush, etc – all wrong. Rarely is there a mentioned are the sports agents role in the misdeeds. Yes the University & P Haden should set the record straight when it keeps being repeated wrongly. But at a point people don’t listen because ‘they think they know the truth’…. so the feeling may well be — don’t respond and the legs on the story will fall off…. maybe?
But I do agree the ‘integrity’ of the University & the ‘brand’ needs to be defended.

At a certain point
All a correction is going to do, at this point, is keep USC in the media crosshairs. The time for public corrections was three or four years ago, but thanks to the comedic duo of Sample & Garrett, lies were allowed to become facts. All Saunders is doing is re-iterating crap spewed four years ago.
At this point, with the sanctions final, the case is closed. Let the OSU and Cam Newton scandals pre-occupy the Dan Wetzel’s of the world. The Sports Media has the attention span of a gnat and it’s probably best not to call to attention USC. It will just allow the the Dennis Dodd’s, the Clay Travis’s and the Gregg Doyell’s of the world to start trolling again. Those who are interested in facts know what happened. Those who are not, i.e., 90% of sports punditry, will just be given more opportunity to disseminate more lies.
Goes to show you there are a lot of STUPID people in TV and Radio
Get this this guy is probably making 7 figures how is that.
