After losing the first set 6-4 Johnson really got it going for an over powering 6-2, 6-1 win, to take home the trophy for he and USC. Winning it as an underclassman says a lot and will go a long way for Steve since he now gets a wild card in the US Open. Steve becomes the first Trojans since 1969 champ Joaquin Loyo-Mayo to win the NCAA team championship and singles title in the same year, becoming the 14th Trojan to win the NCAA singles crown. This was an incredible feet for USC tennis now 3 in a row team championships and now the singles title, this was a marathon for both players that started 2 weeks ago.
