With a tough 4-3 win over No.1 ranked and previsously undefeated Virginia, Peter Smith wins thrid champoinship in a row plus will get even more top recruits to come to USC. Our doubles teams led the way with an awesome start of the controling the doubles for the first point. Then headed by Emilio Gomez and a 6-0, 6-3 win at #5 singles and a 7-6, 6-3 win by #1 singles player Steve Johnson the trojans took a 3-0 lead. Then Virginia pull their britches back up to win at #2, 6 and 4 singles to tie up the score 3-3. Wow it couldn't get any closer than that, Virginia having been rank #1 and unbeaten until they meet up with USC for the first time this year. With the match all tied up #44 Danny Nguyen came thru again for the trojan in the Ncaa Final pulling out a 7-5, 0-6, 6-4 match over #33 ranked Sanam Singh and clinching the trojans 27th victory and the 3rd championship in a row. The Trojans are the first team to 3 peat twice in the their tennis history.
