USC Mens Tennis Beats Ucla 4-3 at Westwood for Pac-7 Title.

This is the first trojan undefeated conference title in 24 years with a 4-3 win over the #9 bRuins, always nice to b beat the Ruins in their own hutch. First USC took the doubles point by winning 2 of 3 matches, winning at #1 and #3 doubles. Atfer the break the Trojans and Briuns battle in singles starting out with Steve Johnson of Orange, Calif taking down Daniel Kosakowski of Downey 6-4, 6-1 in a battle of so-cal players. Next up the bruins came back with wins by Clay Thompson over Daniel Nguyen (USC) - 6-3, 6-2 and Amit Inbar over Jaak Poldma 6-4, 7-6 at #2 & 3 singles, to tie up the match at 2 all. Now things were getting kind of tight with the Bruins smelling comeback but USCs freshman Ray Sarmiento and Emilo Gomez would have no-way with the bruins winning, even with a home crowd in there ears. After both trojans dropped the their first sets 6-2 they came back to take their matches, Ray 6-4, 6-2 against Adrien Puget and Emilo over Holden Seguso 6-3, 6-4. Emilo's victory clinched the match, funny thing is both Emilo (Andrez Gomez) and Holden (Robert Seguso) fathers were former Successful pro tennis players. This is the first time in a few years that USC has beaten Ucla all 2 or 3 matches in a season.
