I understand why Carroll thinks the delay is to allow the NCAA to gather the most ammunition possible, if only because nothing good came out of the duration of the original investigation. Given the scope of the review as described by Haden on the previous day’s show, I wonder if Carroll’s right… that kind of delay doesn’t usually suggest a clear decision to stick with the existing penalties, but rather disagreement over what response is appropriate – in other words, should there be changes. I’m not in possession of any actual information, I’m just extrapolating from watching my government clients and corporate overlords – they’re very quick when they don’t need or want any changes; delays usually indicated disagreement.
