The Trojans are now 8-2 on the year with a 1-0 conference record after playing better against Washington, but there has been a line-up change. USCs Alison Ramos has been struggling at #3 singles all year, so against the bRuins she was dropped to # 5 (which is the limit of movement throughout the draw 2 spots week to week) and as usual she struggled losing 6-3,5-7 7-10 in a third set tiebreaker. Basically at this time the match was over and thats why they played a tiebreaker for the 3rd set at least she made a better match of it. Every player goes thru these funks in their college career and being the great competitor she is she will overcome this. Maria Sanchez was the only singles point for the trojans after winning the doubles point, but getting dominated in a non-conference match at Ucla.
Next the Trojans took on the #20 Huskies at home to right their ship, the Huskies have always put up a fight with the Trojans. Well the Ladies sweep the doubles and went on to take 5 out of 6 singles matches, including Alison Ramos winning her match hopefully finding her way to the top form (it will be needed to do well in the ncaa playoffs) that she always displays. Cristala Andrews was the first singles point for the trojans after she Ripped thru her opponent 6-1, 6-1 in quick fashion, she has ben playing great this being her senior year. Kaitlyn Christian the freshman from Orange Lutheran in Orange, Cal. won 6-3, 6-2 to keep her winning ways going, then Valeria Pulido fininsh off the Huskies to take the match.
Being ranked #15 is good for the trojans and hopefully they can crack the top eight to get a better seeding for the season ending ncaa tournament. the first 16 ranked teams don't play qualifying and the rest play in regional brackets to finish the 64 team draw.
