Mike Garrett and the Destruction of USC Basketball
Bumped - Arizona can thank Mike Garrett for their big win last night!...P
It all started back with Mike Bibby, MB did a great job but MG was always undermining him and in his locker room way to much. Then after he chased Bibby off he started in with Tim Floyd, it was so bad that Floyd was always looking for aq better situation after every season.
The recruitment of OJ Mayo was basically Garrett's doing and Mayo totally disrupted a very good team, especially the broken Jaw of Daniel Hackett. Then he forced Tim Floyd to resign when USC had one of its best recruiting classes since the Hank Gather-Bo Kimble days, letting those players out of their signed LOIs.
Now, we get to watch 3 of those players dismantle Duke on national TV, the most important...Derrick Williams.
Williams was a unknown quality even as a senior, but USC and the combo of Bob Cantu-Gib Arnold was recruiting the kid after his Soph year in HS. So now we have a nothing team with the best arena in california, it looks like MG got his wish to destruct BB at USC and still have it be FB first.
Thanks Mike! May you have a bad day the rest of your life.

You got Mike and Henry Bibby mixed up
Mike is Henry’s son who played for Arizona. I think he plays for the Miami Heat now.
Ha ha ha ------whatever dude
BOOM_BOOM that was the sound of the DUCKs being shot down again in a BCS Bowl Game---I guess all that Slave Money can't buy a championship.
oH and Flush the sound Our Basketball Program is going down the drain, anybody got some liquid Plumber.

he had a great tenure
You do realize we witnessed one of the most amazing runs in college football history right?
Women’s soccer won it’s 1st title. Track and field is shocklingly competitive. We have the best Water Polo coach in the country (Jovan Vavic). Every single USC sport is competitive, and many have won championships.
He wasn’t perfect, but he’s part of the Trojan Family, and he worked his ass off for us. At least give him credit for that.
Fight On! Beat everybody but us!
Bibby lost the team
That’s why he got fired. None of the kids wanted to play for him. It makes me miss George Raveling.
Yes bib did have problems with the team but I feel they were put together by mike Garrett
yes rav was great and if not for the traffic accident would have still been coaching and had 3 NCs by know.

I agree with you about Bibby
But Bibby wasn’t the best at handling young players, and the Dave Miller episode with Nate Hair probably had a lot to do with pushing Bibby out the door.
Not saying he didn't do better for other programs
but he killed basketball and baseball

All true
But we got a basketball arena in Mike’s tenure. He did have a lot to do with that. I think he left us in better shape than when he started. Some of it was just lucky, and Pete Carroll was essentially hired by Darryl Gross, so we can thank him for that.
I think Mike completely failed baseball, but the basketball team is better off now with the facilities that we have at the moment, and recruiting is going well as far as I know. I don’t know that O’Neil is the right fit for us. I guess we just have to wait and see.
It's Just the Way It Is
All USC Basketball fans are frustrated, so let the guy vent.
It’s tough to watch “what could have been us” out there. Every time we think we see a glimmer of hope it’s dashed away from us.
Just looking forward to a time when we get back on track and aren’t playing with a handicap.
