USC Basketball: The Trojans roll Stanford 69-53
The game may have been on TV out west but it was PPV here in NYC.
After coming off a squeaker over Cal on Thursday night 'SC won in convincing fashion over Stanford.
Stanford is a shell of its former self when they had the twin towers so I am not going to be fooled because of the "dominant" win. I won't deny that a sweep of the NorCal schools is nice but I am not going to get too excited.
This team still has a long way to go and I am still not sure if Kevin O'Neill is right man for the job but I am not going to turn down ANY win at this point of the season.
It was nice to read that Alex Stepheson made his presence known last night. He has had a string of games where he simply vanished.
Kind of like what we have been seeing from Jio Fontain of late...he'll get it back on track so it is nice see other players step up when others struggle.
Anyway.......
Nikola Vucevic scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, and Alex Stepheson added 15 points Saturday night, leading USC to a 69-53 victory against Stanford.
Donte Smith had 13 points, and Maurice Jones came off the bench for the second time this season and scored 10 for the Trojans (15-12, 7-7 Pacific 10 Conference), who beat Stanford at Maples Pavilion for the first time since Feb. 21, 2002, and swept the regular-season series.
I guess Maurice Jones is finding his groove.
Its hard to know just where this team will end up, they're just too spotty.
Here are some links from around the local sites...

Nik had an awesome night
19 pts of 6/10 shooting? It doesn’t get much more efficient than that.
All in all, it was an incredibly efficient night for the trojans. everyone except Momo Jones (10 pts on 11 shots) had at least 1 point per shot. If your entire team performs at that level, you’re going to be tough to beat.
We got outrebounded by 8, and only shot 50%!!! from the charity stripe, but played solid defense and frankly outshot them.
It’s a step in the right direction, although why Stanford continued playing man to man is dumbfounding.
If Nik can continue his 3 pt shooting, (3/4 last night) I can’t see a reason for him not to declare.
Fight On! Beat the Wolverines!
Great performance
It would be nice to enjoy a win w/out having to deliberate over KO’s employment at USC. We sound whiny and uninformed. KO isn’t going anywhere for at least 13 months, and I would bet that he is at USC another 3-5 yrs.
USC is obviously playing better w/ Jio at the point and MoMo as the 6th man. We have a tougher schedule to the finish that the Ducks, but do have a game left against UW, so a 3rd place finish is not out of the question. Key game left with WSU which could determine the 5th or 6th seed, which will be a huge game, as well.
I would be surprised if USC as a 5 seed does not beat Oregon as a 4 seed in the PacLife tourney to set up a big semifinal against Zona or UCLA. We still have a chance to make some noise this season. Fight on!
A Quick Note for the Quitters
No comment from this thread will be deleted. You will have to own them when we get it turned around and beat Southern Cal. You will never ride the bandwagon when we come back. Not on BN. GO BRUINS.

"MoMo Jones"
Maurice Jones is not MoMo Jones. He is a player we lost to Arizona named Lamont Jones. Maurice Jones is also known as Mo or “Mojo.”
My bad, I know that
