Today at 2-5 the bRuins headmaster just suspended their best player (Reeves Nelson) for the second time this season, wow when was the last time that happen. Well I would say maybe 2 years ago with Drew Gordan and he and others transferred out, I am thinking that will happen again. Looks like Coach Howland is not only mad at Nelson but big boy Josh Smith who has gained back the HS weight and hasn't improved conditioning or footwork. I would have to say that both will end up somewhere else next year and with that they probably end up at Gonzaga or SDSU. I am wondering how this all plays out for their top recruits, will they keep those commitments or not. Since the coach hasn't been fired the strong recruiting class might bolt, since this the 3rd out 4 years that star players have left by transfer or the NBA.
I feel that Ben Howland can coach up the SFs and Guards, but really seems to have a hard time with PFs and Center. When Ben came to ucla he was being portrayed as the second coming of John Wooden, only problem with that is there is no Sam Gilbert around to keep those high-line players in cash, girls, cars and food. Well it will be all play out by seasons end, but I still feel this will be another gainning step for USC basketball, which since Henry Bibby has been moving closer and closer to the bRuins and might overtake them after all this plays out. Now will USC retain Kevin O'Neal or not that is another question, sorry but I personally feel that he can't move USC into that elite class of college hoops. This another wait and see scenario to be played out, but unlike Garrett PH doesn't seem to care much about Basketball.
