PAC-12 QB's left off Heismanology poll in week 14

I'm watching ESPN3.com's broadcast of the BCS Selection program.

Both Andrew Luck AND Matt Barkley are left OFF the top 5 player Heismanology polls today. The reporter states that if the QB did not play this weekend, they were left off the polls, so RGIII is top of the poll today.

I BLAME LARRY SCOTT FOR THIS FIASCO OF A BCS AND HEISMAN situation.

BCS leaves Stanford out of the running as a 3rd place contender. Heisman leaves Andrew Luck out of the Heisman top 5 process AND Matt Barkley are no where to be found in the contention because BOTH Stanford (top in the North) and USC (top in the South) were BOTH excluded from the PAC-12 CCG on Friday.

Lessions learned?

I say no CCG on Friday in 2012. The CCG MUST be played on Saturday.

I say the top teams play in the 2012 CCG. If not, then the entire CCG format should be scrapped, we fire Larry Scott, get rid of our conference affiliation entirely and let the Rose Bowl figure out if they really want a PAC-11 tie in. This is ridiculous and I say to Boone Pickens - Go get 'em Boone. I'll ride with you!

I blame Larry Scott for a lot...

…but this asinine bullshit criteria is entirely on the four-letter network.

In fact, I'll go one step further

And call it journalistically irresponsible. Didn’t see ESPN having a problem with that in lobbying for their new cash cow SEC having a 2nd team in the National Championship.

And I vote none of the above

An 8 team playoff with conference champions is SO easy to do while keeping the bowl system intact.

added that option

Good idea to add that option.

Poor decision making by Larry Scott

but RG3 really is deserving of the Heisman

Griffin III vs. Luck

* First of all, if you can look at the charts for Robert Griffin III and Andrew Luck above and find a reason that Luck should be ahead of Griffin on anyone’s ballot, please let me know. This is a collegiate award, not the NFL draft.
* RGIII completed 2.4% more of his passes than did Andrew Luck against a slate of defenses that allowed 0.7% fewer completions.
* He averaged nearly 90 yards more than each Baylor opponent allowed otherwise, Luck only threw for 33 more yards that Stanford opponents were allowing on average.
* Furthermore, Luck’s explosive passes (10+, 20+, etc) were basically in line with his opponents’ season totals, he had one extra 10 yard completion per game, while RGIII bettered each of the Baylor opponents’ season numbers in over 3 fewer attempts per game.
* Griffin III averaged 2.2 yards per attempt more than Luck against a slate of defenses that allowed .3 fewer yards per attempt than Luck.
* Opponents were half as likely to intercept Griffin as other quarterbacks they faced; Stanford opponents intercepted Luck at a nearly identical rate to the rest of their schedules.
* I didn’t include Griffin or Luck’s rushing totals here, but feel free to take a look at those on your own – they are heavily slanted in Griffin’s favor.
* I think the most striking point for Griffin is the following: Griffin had a higher passer rating against a tougher slate of defenses; in fact, the difference between Griffin’s passer rating and his opponents’ (61.5) was nearly twice that of the difference between Luck and Stanford’s opponents’ (31.8).

Mostly agree

However your last talk point said “Griffin had a higher passer rating against a tougher slate of defenses”.
So, we’re saying that Baylor’s conference is tougher in defense than PAC-12?
Please explain what or how you can infer that.

The stats are out there

Top to bottom the Big 12 is the strongest conference. No easy outs. It’s just weaker at the top than the P12 and SEC.

Larry Scott is a marketer

He was a hit with Women’s tennis because he took the job at a time when it had hit rock bottom. There was nowhere to go but up. In addition, he was rescued by the Williams sisters, Maria Sharapova, and the rest of the former Soviet hotties that turned the tour into a Victoria’s Secret fashion show. T&A is all this guy knows.

Triple snub

No Heisman invite, no Coach of The Year consideration, no All-Americans.

The only option left is to kick everyone’s ass!
