Colorado Week: Thursday Notes
It's going to be chilly tomorrow night in Boulder.
Last week the Denver area got something like ten inches of snow. Unless the state of Colorado went on a heat wave in the 90's then i expect things to be a little colder than USC is used to.
Matt Barkley doesn't think the cold will be a bother...
It isn’t expected to b that cold when USC faces Colorado in Boulder on Friday night.
The projected high is 55 degrees, the low 39. Not that frigid conditions would have bothered Matt Barkley.
"I don’t mind it," the Trojans quarterback said this week. "I grew up, winters back east in the cold, playing outside with no shirt on. I don’t think it’ll be that much of a problem."
The back and forth of the game will keep the players warm but its always the players hands that are affected by the cold.
It's tough to catch hard thrown balls when your hands are a little stiff.
And when it comes to catching passes, everyone will be keeping their eyes on Robert Woods. Based on what I have read Mr. Woods wants to get back to being productive...
The usually sure-handed Woods, who leads the Pacific 12 Conference in receptions and receiving yards per game, dropped two passes against the Cardinal. He also ran toward the sideline on the final play of regulation instead of dropping to the ground and calling for a timeout after a reception.
Looks like Woods is going to hold a grudge over last weeks performance.
That is what winners do, They use poor performances to motivate them to play better the next week. Woods has clearly set high standards for himself with how he has played this season. He has a little competition from Marqise Lee which means that Woods is not letting anyone out play him.
Like I said yesterday I am more concerned about this team keeping focused. Letdowns are part the game, but as I said yesterday, winning tomorrow night after a very tough triple OT loss is key for this teams continued growth.
We know it and they know it.
So, it's business as usual this week...

Other notes:
ESPN L.A.'s Pedro Moura reported on Twitter early this evening that George Farmer did not make the trip to Boulder. Marc Tyler did make the trip.
Gary Klein reported on Twitter that Dion Bailey made the trip as well...

shouldn't be a factor
Boulder forecast is 52/ 40 and partly cloudy – so unless the game goes to 3-4 AM it shouldn’t get that old… LA forecast is 59/ 42 and showers, which I’d have worried about more.
I di wonder, though, how adding Colordo and Utah to our normally mostly-sunny (and definitely snow-free) schedule will play out over the years…
Rain is worse than snow I would think.....
Especially compared to the Pacific storms with rain and wind. I remember being so soaked it took two days for my jeans to dry out at Berkeley. Then there are howling winds and rain at Seattle…

I'm more worried as to why the Pac 12 thinks its OK to schedule
USC on a Friday. Friday games are for Ball State not USC.
It's all part of the program
This is just a reminder that we’re not the elite any more.

I agree completely ---
Friday Night is for HS games…. It sucks. Who makes that decision…..

I want to see TJ Morgan get the ball too
Would be great to see the Taft alumn give McNeal a break now and then;
along with Carlisle,
at least until Tyler is back to full strength.
We need to work our depth, esp. with Tyler still mending.
