PAC-12 refuses to honor the Southern Championship title for USC
Is there some vendetta against private universities by Mr. Scott?
http://www.pac-12.org/fcg
quoting their website:
QUOTE: UCLA will participate in the Pac-12 Championship game as the South Division champion. Due to NCAA probation, USC is ineligible for the postseason and not permitted to play in the Pac-12 Championship Game.
I want to repeat that quote for you sportsfans: UCLA will participate in the Pac-12 Championship game as the South Division champion
Did you get that people?
USC wins the division outright with only 2 losses and for some reason, instead of honoring those wins, Larry Scott elects to deselect the USC Trojan team and disrespect this team by NOT honoring the fact that they clearly and unequivocally won the southern division. Perhaps it would be better to actually state that UCLA is SECOND place and that USC can not attend due to YOUR decision Mr. Scott!
It is not acceptable for desk sitters to remove from record books the performance of the athletes on the field. It is clear that the bowl ban does not negate the winning performances of the USC Trojan 2011 team on the field. USC clearly had the best record of the south, having lost only to ASU in the Southern Division and Stanford from the North.
If any team has rights to be in the PAC-12 championship, where is Stanford in this mix? Stanford is the number 4 team in the nation according to the AP poll, has only one loss, but is removed from the PAC-12 CCG because of the fact that Oregon (2 loss) has been declared the Northern Division champion. HUH???? Stanford has a better record than Oregon! Stanfard has only one loss and is being held out of the CCG in favor of UCLA??? The PAC-12 has become a joke...taking away titles from USC for no reason, taking away eligibility for the Rose Bowl by the only 1 loss team in the conference! What in the world is this about Mr. Scott? We should not stand for this nonsense. Stanford is the best team in the league with only one loss, yet Oregon and UCLA are playing for the title?
Sanctions have nothing to do with erasing fair-square athletic performances on the field. These USC athletes DESERVE better respect from the PAC-12 officials. Frankly, so does Stanford!
It's disgusting to see how USC and Stanford are being treated by Larry Scott.

Pac 12 Mighta Got Fined If We Were Coronated
General Agrippa explained it:
Me:
Pac 12 Championship Game Ban – Scott’s call? Heard from someone who donates a lot of $$ to SC that the NCAA told Scott that if USC was allowed in the game, it would be considered a violation of the COI sanctions and there might be consequences for Pac 12 and additional consequences for USC. Anyone know anything more about this – what was Scott’s call, what wasn’t?
M. Agrippa:
Harvey Hyde said the NCAA threatened a "potential" penalty of up to $5 million.
So the NCAA pointed the COI gun at Scott’s head. Not to say that Scott hasn’t bent over backwards to accomodate the NCAA bending USC over backwards.
simple answer to NCAA COI
You announce that USC won the Southern Division but due to “NCAA sanctions” USC is prevented from playing in post-season play this year.
This would put the eggs into the NCAA carton.
Instead, PAC-12 takes heat for
(1) skipping Stanford’s higher rank in the polls
(2) USC’s higher standings in the Southern division
(3) putting a 6-6 UCLA club in the conference championship
(4) Denying USC being crowned champion of the Southern Division by PAC-12, which does not have any legal contractual responsibility to follow COI (unless NCAA wants more anti-trust litigation)?
(5) Hurting revenue for the PAC-12 inaugural CCG.
Question for Sports Writers
SI – I know you’re reading this blog.
What’s the deal with disallowing the CURRENT USC team from being named Southern Division Champions in the PAC-12???
PAC-12 needs to be asked this question… no part of NCAA sanctions forbids current players from being named as PAC-12 POTY or POTW. No part of NCAA sanctions forbids the TEAM from being named as PAC-12 Champions.
Still no South Division Champions shirts on sale
at least, not in the Pac-12 store.
The Oregon page of that site has their championship shirts at the very top. Can’t find any shirts on the UCLA page.
So that’s something. Still — Larry Scott sucks.
I've been sending them messages asking when they will have the shirts ready.
We should ask them to produce the shirts and put them up for sale.
If not, why not!
Since this year the post season is essentially the Pac-11
Why not open up the south division slot to the best record in conference runner up. At least Stanford would have a chance to get in with their great season. If you are going to disqualify USC, lets put our best two teams up for a rematch. ucla shouldn’t be playing, but its not their fault. Larry Scott should have had the vision to foresee this scenario, and the clusterF$%# that this makes the CCG. He should have made a USC rule that opened up the South division conference wide to the best team available if the Trojans ended up in 1st place in the south.
This.
As much as the Farm can bug me sometimes, this whole debacle is just as unfair to them as it is to USC.
Yeah, they will get their BCS bowl, but I would be PO’d that my team is ranked higher than Oregon and has a much better record than UCLA, but they won’t have the chance at a conference title.

wow that was a really short reel
That program was over faster than the 8 clap!
You guys are losing sight of the mission goal
We knew that we wouldn’t be able to play in the conference championship. I knew it, and accepted that a long time ago.
The goal this year, was to completely mess up the whole post season if we could.
The mission throughout the sanctions is to keep on winning. The only way to thumb our noses at the NCAA and all of the others that hate us is to keep on winning. This year it couldn’t have gone any better. We still have 3 years to go on sanctions, the mission is ongoing.
Part 1- Ruin the Pac-12 title game. Check
Part 2- Make it to a BCS bowl, and win the Heisman if Barkley returns
Part 3- Win a National Title during the sanction years
These are lofty goals for any team, but if we can accomplish all of this, it would truly be amazing.

Yep and that is a record my man with the Boxster
Yes we can't play in a Bowl and that is lucky for the rest of College FB' but next year we at USC will dominate.

my porsche is black
its getting old now though.
good luck with your vette if you decide to go there.
Did we play or not?
I guess none of USC games counted this year – it is as we dreamed a 10-2 record. So Oregon’s record should read 10-1* ucla 6-5* (additional loss for each U does not exist as USC is a phantom school)……
I think I remember correctly back in the 80’s when it seemed like half the PAC 10 was on probation – the real Champion was not in the RB. And whoever played was regularly referred to as the "PAC 10 Representative" – not the Champion.
I really hope ucla loses big to Oregon and whomever they play in post season. It seems NCAA loves them so much.
So ucla will end the season with asterisks galore.
Now we can add PAC 12 (& Larry Scott) to enemy of USC list along with the NCAA.
Was there any mention before the season that if SC were atop the south division we would not be in fact the "winner/champion". I know we were already not going to be able to play before the season started, that was clear. But not to be even recognized seems really more punitive to the players and for what purpose?
I am stunned SC was allowed to play any games. No wonder the press regular spewed that SC had nothing to play for… yes nothing but pride and pride won.
I wonder what the reception of Larry Scott would be like at the Coliseum… not friendly I would suspect.
You're kind of late to the party gentlemen
Larry Scott has had only one interest, making himself look good. He bamboozled USC and Ucla into his wealth redistribution scheme, brought in two crappy teams, invented a “championship” game and cut a fat TV deal. Well guess what? The fat TV deal was going to happen anyway. In a year or two Haavahd Larry will move on to something bigger and better, something more befitting his station in life.
Read my new sig
Larry Scott is a spineless, candy ass, limp wristed, silver spoon sucking, tits and ass tennis show pimping, Champagne swilling, rich asshole "Haavahd" tennis player from New York City with ZERO HISTORY OF KNOWING OR CARING A WHIT ABOUT COLLEGE FOOTBALL, AND EVEN LESS ABOUT PAC-10* FOOTBALL.
U feeling Loco?
I was more concerned with SC not some much w/ Scott other than impact on SC. But...
Larry looks rather stupid… right now. He seems to know nada about football or college fans of the game. Different sports attract different folks for the most part. Just like teams are not interchangeable between conferences – neither are their base of support.
But you’re right Loco his only interest is self-interest.
Read you sig — after writing this.
So we went from Hansen who was terrible at marketing to Mr. Marketing only without knowledge of the product.

To Agrippa - Yes I am late to the party
To Agrippa – Yes I am late to the party.
I was singing Larry Scott’s praise a few months ago when the conference realignment discussion was heating up and his praise one year ago when he pulled the PAC10+2.
Now, it’s looking less stellar.
His behavior can only be characterized as biased and sadly corrupted. His weak performance in the context of USC Southern District Football Championship adds an exclamation point to his inability to orchestrate a fair playing field. In fact, why even field a team at all.
More over, I have a few questions for Petros Papadakis, who had Pat Haden on his radio program yesterday afternoon.
Petros talked with Haden but it became a back slapping fest from Petros. Instead, of Petros asking the key question… How does Haden feel about the PAC-12 not recognizing USC Football’s championship title?
missed that ----
My thoughts about Petros are not particularly positive these days. He was always ragging on PC as I remember and basically attacking SC regularly.
He was a fun at the Galen but basically he is a terrible journalist. Maybe a better sports commentator. But more often than not I find loud, crass and annoying.

Petros = loud
He’s competing against John and Ken Show on KFI.
John and Ken are losing sponsors.
One wonders if KLAC is picking those sponsors up.
If so, Petros has to be more mellow and being more “journalist” than “loud”.
Sports commentator would only be good if he asks the tough question that is on people’s mind.
With everything occurring this week in NCAA PAC-12 schools, Pat Haden is the key guy to ask. He’s THE NCAA rep from PAC-12 for the entire conference.
Petros is a LOSER why do you think he was wearing ucla colors with his tie at the game last week.
Really I don’t get this guy he gets paid to do the galen center announcing and still runs over to fucla, maybe when he came to USC from cal we didn’t give him a schollie. I haven’t listened to his show in 2+ years and never will again anytime I see that he does game announcing I turn down the sound.
DUCK PETROS
