USC 50 - UCLA 0...The Gap is a CHASM

Catch me if you can!

Not much to say.

USC set the tone from the first drive. The defense stood tall and would not let UCLA score.

LEAVE. NO. DOUBT.

Lane Kiffin cleaned upall his unfinished business.

Robert Woods and Marqise Lee each have 1000 yards in receiving. Matt Barkley breaks Leinart's records but I think he fell one short of Palmer's season record of 309 receptions. Curtis McNeal gets 1000 yards rushing.

But most important Lane Kiffin rammed Neuheisel's words right down his throat.

We will look at this more tomorrow but for now lets celebrate this great season as it comes to a close!

Fire away...this our post game thread!

FIGHT ON!

Will the President of the US call for disaster help in Westwood

Yes we can't play in a Bowl and that is lucky for the rest of College FB' but next year we at USC will dominate.

Westwood already gets enough federal aid.

Can we stop with the bailouts of losing organizations?
First the banks.
Second the insurers.
Third the colleges and student bail outs?

Meanwhile, NCAA COI / Enforcement feels that it is just to prevent us from funding our own scholarships while the other teams get federal and state matching aid?

What a load of malarky!

Given that we were ineligible for post season play

this season should be considered an unqualified success. We were really just a few fumbles away from 12-0!!!!

If the Big 4 come back next year, you can pencil in the MNC right now. It would completely understandable for any (or all) of them to go to the NFL, but if they don’t, BIG things are in store for the Trojans next year.

That was probably the best possible way to cap off a great season – that’s something we can be happy with all off season. Fight On!

but but what about the PAC-12 Championship?

LOL
Larry Scott is a such a loser.
His self-imposed ban on USC being in the PAC-12 Championship converted what would have been a huge national audience for an Oregon v. USC rematch into a pathetic regional turkey shoot between Oregon and a 6-6 UCLA team!
What a loser.
Larry Scott should resign with Rick Neuheisel’s dismissal.

Best we might have been able to do is make it closer

we did move the ball fairly well, but when we got chances to make a big play, we failed. Still wouldn’t have made a difference in the final result, but maybe instead of being a crushing loss it becomes “only” a whipping-42-21 or something.

Most pathetic commentary was Petros suggesting that maybe UCLA was flat because Utah lost and put UCLA in the championship game-yeah, that explains it!

Really? There is no way its worse.

How could losing to Oregon be any worse? Honestly, even if Oregon won 70-0 or something would it actually be worse than losing to your CROSSTOWN RIVAL 50-0? Even though it was 5 years ago I still feel the sting of 13-9 and USC has since lost by larger margins with similar stakes. It just matters more when its USC and UCLA.

No, this game will sting far longer. UCLA came into the Coliseum with a margin of hope they could

win the Pac-12 South division title outright. They got humiliated by the more deserving team. Now, beaten, UCLA will play in the Pac-12 championship game, not because they earned that right to be there but because the opportunity was gifted to them. UCLA knows it doesn’t belong and really loses nothing getting beat again. The NCAA will assuredly give the Bruins the waiver needed to play in a bowl game.

I was listening the 570 on the drive home.
What a joke to hear the UCLA announcers claim the title of “PAC-12 Southern Division Champions” for UCLA.

Just got back from partying hard at the 9-0

GODDAMN. 50-0. I have never seen such a thorough destruction in this rivalry. I mean, 50 to NOTHING! Say it loud and there’s Tusk playing! Say it soft and it’s almost like praying! I can’t stop repeating the score aloud! It’s incredible!

I mean, just WOW. What an incredible season. While BN tries to rally Bruins together for a protest to fire Danny G, we here at CC should rally the Trojans together and DEMAND that Pat Haden create a plaque in the new athletic building honoring the 2010 and 2011 seniors that chose to give up their bowl games to play for this school.

UCLA's goose egg

The goose egg is on the board despite 300+ yards of offensive production.
Neuheisel’s decision making is really the reason that the goose egg is on the board.
Instead of taking the field goal in the 1st quarter, he went for a 4th and goal at the 1.
He should have taken the field goal! It would have been USC 7 UCLA 3.

I think he went for it on fourth down 3 times in the game and lost every 4th down attempt.

He did a pass play into the end zone which was TJ’s INT in the UCLA end zone. That took another 7 off the board.

At the end of the second half, they had 30 seconds on the clock and did not stop the clock to kick a field goal. UCLA was at the 20 yard line and could have put another 3 on the board with that clock management error.

So, between these errors, I count FG, TD, FG as lost to the USC Defense, or 13 points.

end of the second quarter action

1. Should have done a pass play with 30 seconds left – I think they did a run instead.
2. Incomplete pass would stop the clock.
3. Pass completion would have advanced the ball.
4. Could have spiked the ball to halt the play clock and kick FG.

RN left 3 off the board by that play calling.

this has to sting

From Simer’s column today:

“At the same time Kiffin has been everything that Neuheisel has not. He has three fewer wins than Neuheisel in half the time on the job. He came to town full of promise, and despite obvious NCAA limitations, he’s delivered.”

Going down swinging

I think Neuheisel deserves a little credit for giving his guys a chance to get real points on the board by going for the 4th downs. But they couldn’t execute.

fair enough

But doing that at midfield is just setting your defense up for heartbreak if it doesn’t work. When you’re down big, it’s one thing to gamble, but quite another to increase your chances of going even further behind.

by DC Trojan on Nov 27, 2011 10:08 AM PST via iPhone app up reply actions

i agree with DC Trojan

Differing play calling would have
1. Given UCLA 3 points in the 1st quarter first series. He went for it on 4th and goal and got stopped.
2. Called a pass play which was TJ McDonald’s INT. I think UCLA was about at the 8 or 9 yard line and they could have just called a few running plays to advance for TD or kick another FG.
3. Went for it at mid field on 4th down and lost that gamble also. He should have kicked and put USC way back on the UCLA 10 or 5.
4. Could have kicked FG at end of the second quarter to make theoretical score between 6 and 13 points by half.

The half score would have been closer to around 25 to 13…. still a gap, but closer.

Pac 12 Championship Game Ban - Scott's call?

Heard from someone who donates a lot of $$ to SC that the NCAA told Scott that if USC was allowed in the game, it would be considered a violation of the COI sanctions and there might be consequences for Pac 12 and additional consequences for USC.

Same person said that it WAS Scott’s decision to not call USC the division “Champions”, because he wanted to avoid “confusion” when we weren’t playing in the title game, and to show the NCAA that he WAS complying in letter and spirit with their unjust USC sanctions.

Anyone know anything more about this – what was Scott’s call, what wasn’t?

Here is my banishment reply on my first post

You are banned from Bruins Nation.

You can browse the blog, but you can’t participate.

Louis Pappas: Nestor may be a “censoring socialist” as you say, but now you’re a banned asshole trOJan troll! Thanks for playing, but like all trOJans, you still are an EPIC FAIL.
