BlogPoll Ballot: Regular Season Week 11

I think the top 10 are really that matters, but here it is...

I know I am a little all over the map here especially as you get towards the bottom of the poll.

I moved Stanford down because the were absolutely dump trucked AT HOME. BSU lost at home but it was closer.

I wasn't thrilled with Nebraska's win...too much of a downer. Not sure about having Auburn in but that Texas loss was UGLY.

Tell me your thoughts...

Close enough

Looks like another BCS mess for the national title game. The only hope at this point is for Oklahoma State to stay unbeaten and that means getting by Oklahoma at season’s end. Could happen but history says it normally doesn’t. If so, it’s another BCS coronation/anointment of the SEC… i.e. an LSU / Alabama rematch. If the Ducks win out… it could be Oregon but that’s almost as repulsive… like LSU/Alabama we’ve already seen this movie… not even the ‘Addicted to Quacks’ in Eugene wanna see the Ducks get beat down again. Oklahoma, if THEY win out, is another possibility for the title game but I still doubt the BCS wjll be that honest.

Sigh…. punditry and computer programming as much as playing the game once again seems likely to determine the next national champ in major college football.

Indeed

“Sigh…. punditry and computer programming as much as playing the game once again seems likely to determine the next national champ in major college football.” Without a playoff system, this is indeed true. If Division 2 and 3 can do it, then it can be done at our level too. But just try telling the major university presidents that!

Indeed?

“But just try telling the major university presidents that!”

Not all of them. The SEC has always favored/promoted an expanded playoff. It was the Rose Bowl conferences (RBc) that insisted on the 1-game playoff as a precondition for their joining the BCS. The other conferences have mixed feelings. If the RBc would drop their adamant opposition and joined the SEC in advocating an expanded playoff, it would prolly happen. As this poll demonstrates, the SEC has 3 of the top 5 teams ranked and have a de facto playoff anyway. Arkansas has an excellent chance of “advancing,” but whoever wins it in the west, that team will be tested by a hot Georgia team in the Georgia Dome. Cutting CC games, the regular season by a game or two and having an expanded playoff would suit me and most fans just fine. You do not need to persuade all presidents, just your own.

Cue Jim Mora "Playoffs?!" Soundbite

So all the other Division 1 CFB conferences, save the Pac-12 and Big Ten, are for a playoff system, and the Pac-12 and Big Ten have basically ruined the playoff party for everyone else? Hmmm, that’s quite the conspiracy theory. Anything is possible, I suppose. But until I see some documentary evidence to back up said theory, I’m inclined to dismiss it, particularly considering that this is the first I’ve heard of it.

My nits...

- Bama beat Arky handily
- Wiscy beat Braska handily
- I’d have Florida St in the bottom 3 after winning 5 in a row and drop Baylor

A Quick Note for the Quitters
No comment from this thread will be deleted. You will have to own them when we get it turned around and beat Southern Cal. You will never ride the bandwagon when we come back. Not on BN. GO BRUINS.

Your nits...

We share the same first two observation/sentiments. Bama > Arkansas and Wisconsin > Nebraska; head to head matters.
