Only question left about Dillon Baxter is the same one ... Why?
I have disagreed with Scott Wolf on MANY things.
But I read this story twice and I really can't disagree with him on anything here.
This whole situation just doesn't fit right to me...but my opinion is insignificant.
Coaches play favorites...their human.
Baxter didn't fit into Kiffin's plans regardless of his talent level...WHY, is a very good question. But we will never know.
I am not sure Kiffin's handling of the Ambles situation in comparison to Baxter is consistent, it will surely fuel the fire of Kiffin's detractors. The Drip, Drip, Drip of this situation is distasteful to me...if Baxter didn't fit in then he should have been gone a long time ago.
Now, Kiffin looks no better than any other coach that runs a kid off the squad to get a schollie back.
Baxter isn't blameless here, but if he was such a "headache" the why let the situation stew? I would have shown him door when Baxter's parents inquired about playing time. Even I wouldn't put up with that.
Anyway, JMO...

Well the Wolf take is just that Wolf
Baxter did a lot of crap as a freshman and I guess Lane never felt he changed his attitude, which means to me that Lane really doesn’t play favorites. It has been my observation (opinions we all have them as something else to) Lane wants players that work hard and keep there thoughts to themselves, go to class and stay the F—- out of trouble. Basically he needs to change his situation buy transferring anywhere and could still get back to FB. The fact that he got his girlfriend PG shows he doesn’t think of anything but the moment and needs to learn to look at what my happen in the future. I think Kiffin feels that he doesn’t need Dillions crap at this juncture in his Head Coaching career, but maybe down the line 5-10 years from now he will nurture these kind of kids or maybe not.
Basically Baxter needs to grow up some and maybe this will all help him——but as we see not at USC.

Typical Wolf duchebaggery
The perv is peeved because neither side will talk to him. This piece is designed for one thing, to gin up yet another flame war between fucla’s butt-hurt moron base and our own lunatic fringe.
F*ck the Wolfbag.

I disagree with both Paragon and Wolf on one significant point.
First, no one can dispute whether the question of "Why? has been answered by Kiffin. It hasn’t. But we can disagree about whether Kiffin SHOULD answer the question…about whether media members and interested fans deserve to be supplied with a laundry list of Baxter’s deficiencies so that hey can judge it for themselves. Not sure how Paragon stands on this, but Wolf clearly feels entitled to such information. And Wolf, not receiving a satisfactory explanation, feels justified postulating the worst of motives on Kiffin’s part…that Kiffin “quickly made Baxter an outsider” because he “comitted to USC under Pete Carroll”. By that logic, then I guess Kiffin also must have quickly made Robert Woods (another Carroll commit) an outsider, too.
The most absurd assault on Kiffin’s character by Wolf is he implication that Ambles was given more chances than Baxter simply because Ambles was initially recruited by Kiffin and Baxter wasn’t. Does Wolf have any idea what he’s talking about? (wait, no need to answer that). By my count, both Baxter and Ambles started getteing into trouble at about the same time. Ambles actually got into far less trouble than Baxter. Ambles didn’t make false statements to USC’s AD about other schools contacting him (a possible NCAA violation on Baxter’s part). Ambles did not accept any benefits from a student agent (another potential violation on Baxter’s part). Ambles didn’t get nearly the playing time that Baxter got, either. As far as I know, Ambles never really sulked about playing time, either. And after all of this…Baxter lasted in the program a half season longer than Ambles…yet Kiffin was supposedly unfair to Baxter because he didn’t give him as many chances as he gave Ambles?
In the end, I see Wolf complaining that Baxter should have been given more opportunity and Paragon complaining that “if Baxter didn’t fit in he should have been gone a long time ago”. It’s hard to make everyone happy. Although the exact “Why?” was never explained, the one thing I take from Wolf’s is that there are plenty of posible reasons. I wish Baxter well, and I respect Kiffin’s decision not to discuss it further.

Agree 100%
Wolf has less than zero credibility. Baxter just had a kid and has a history of misbehavior. He’s still in school. He could even come back to the team, like Brice Butler did. Kiffin is right in not airing Baxter’s dirty laundry.
A Quick Note for the Quitters
No comment from this thread will be deleted. You will have to own them when we get it turned around and beat Southern Cal. You will never ride the bandwagon when we come back. Not on BN. GO BRUINS.

Correct!
The Perv is the only one calling for a transfer to SDSU, and you can take it to the bank, he doesn’t know anything.

The 'why' would be very denigrating towards Baxter (and rightly so)
It is not fit for public airing.
Ambles couldn’t get his shit together, but he was not a team cancer. I’m afraid Baxter may be.

Agree here Rabbit it is none of anyones business unless Baxter what to communicate it.
Also cancer——I remember seeing Baxter on sideline after a player scored and come by him he didn’t offer any kind of congrats—-not cool man—not cool.

Wolf is the ultimate troll
I stopped reading him a couple years ago now – he inflames both sides to get hits and generate traffic. If you simply stop reading him, then eventually he will go away. Don’t feed the troll!
You mean it wasn't the fact Baxter keep putting the ball on the ground?

But, that makes too much sense ev!
It’s a matter of maturity: both on the field and off.
The young man couldn’t block nor handle the rock properly. He moved and shifted when he should have simply fell forward. Our line blocked the hell out for him, he seemed to hit the pockets sideways and exposed the ball too much.
Coach Kiffin has done an admirable job keeping things “in-house”- with Baxter, he’s given him and his family all he can give without losing the respect from his players and coaches.

writing his own ticket.... outta town
Seems Baxter was a prima dona before doing anything (on the field) that would or could make him a prima dona. Doubt this situation would have gone on this long under McKay or J Rob…or any other SC HC… even Carroll… but Kiffin tried… so be it… best everyone move on.
