USC sophomore Emilo Gomez wins Battle in the Bay Tennis Tournament

Emilo Gomez USCs #5 player last year wins bay area tournament competing against Stanford, Cal, Pepperdine, USF, Bosie State, UoP, Saint Marys, USD. Gomez along with freshman Jonny Wang and Eric Johnson played in the tournament with all three getting past the first round. Eric lost in the round on 16, with Wang from San Morino losing in the quarter finals to Stanford sophomore Daniel Ho in a tough 3 set match 3-6, 7-6, 7-6. Emilo only lost one set in five matches to the crown and a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Pepperdines Hugh Clark. With ncaa champion Steve Johnson coming back in the spring and Daniel Nguyen ranked in the top 4 along with Ray Sarmiento 15 ranked, USC looks great to win 4th Ncaa team championships in a row.
