Around SBN: Where Do The Lakers Go From Here?

Coach Lane Kiffin was penalized for a rare sideline infraction toward the end of the first half. "I came out on the field by a couple feet," Kiffin said. "(Mike) Stoops is out by the numbers and I get one foot out and they call it. It won't happen again. I won't say any more because I don't feel like getting fined."

As usual, the officiating is very subpar in the Pac-12. That Jay Strickerz still has a job tells me all I need to know. I try not to get too involved in conspiracy theories...but this is pretty obvious.

Just like the no calls on Perry being held and the clock management issues at Stanford last season.

Just what is Mike Pereia being paid to do??

It never changes....

Broken record

And, how about that PI on Brice in the zone at the end of the half? Man, I can understand close judgement calls, but the refs made a couple of “are they blind” calls again. Business as usual.

A Quick Note for the Quitters
No comment from this thread will be deleted. You will have to own them when we get it turned around and beat Southern Cal. You will never ride the bandwagon when we come back. Not on BN. GO BRUINS.

This was a bad crew

Because this was not a nationally televised game.

BTW: If Perry has been “held” in every game this year, including games where the refs were not Pac-12 refs (were the Minnesota and Syracuse crews Pac-12?), then I’d say this is a technique issue much more so than a “comspiracy” problem. There is an art to getting holding calls. Plus, if you aren’t going to slant or stunt, and if Perry is going to be asked to cut inside the tackle on most of his pass rushes (where he can get doubled by the guard, since the DL never stunts) then he is going to be held, and the officials won’t call it because the ref will not be able to see it because they are screened from the holding.

Again, this more a coaching, technique issue.

And please give to the Monte Kiffin Retirement Fund.

I don't necessarily disagree with you

If you are being held that much and you’re not forcing the refs to notice, then you’re not making the right adjustments to your game. Good observation on making the refs call the hold rather than just be held and keep playing with the same technique over and over.

Nick Perry is the most held player in college football

It seems like during half the QB drop backs he has a tackle with an arm wrapped around him, and yet I think he’s only generated maybe 2 holding calls all year (and that might be generous).

Damned Zebras!

The Pac-12 must have one of the worst stables of refs in all of big-time college football.
