There were reports earlier this week that Neuheisel was bringing in San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator in Mike Johnson for a similar position, which would essentially dismiss current OC Norm Chow. However, as of right now, it doesn't appear as if those rumors are being endorsed by Slick Rick, as the coach has shot down any insinuation that Chow is packing his bags. According to Sam Strong of the Daily Bruin:
The rumor mill of coaching changes for the UCLA football team continues to churn, but according to coach Rick Neuheisel, potential coaching moves are just that: rumors.
An unconfirmed report surfaced Wednesday afternoon that UCLA has reached an agreement with Mike Johnson, the San Francisco 49ers' current offensive coordinator, to be the new offensive coordinator for the Bruins.
Neuheisel said that he has contacted Johnson about the wide receivers coach opening, but hasn't dismissed the notion of Johnson as a potential offensive coordinator.
"Well, I haven't ruled that out but Mike and I haven't made any deals about that," Neuheisel said of appointing Johnson offensive coordinator.
We'll see if anything changes on this front.
