Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

I've always had the utmost respect for Donna Shalala, Kirby Hocutt and Paul Dee.''

Looks like possibly more problems at U of Miami stemming from booster Nevin Shapiro's upcoming? tell all book covering the years 2001-2010. Guess who was there for the majority of that time period? None other than our favorite clown, Paul Dee.
Death to the NCAA!

Paul Dee is a former Athletic Director (AD) at the University of Miami (UM) in Coral Gables, Florida. He held that position since 1993.

Under Dee's watch, the University of Miami athletic program was sanctioned by the NCAA in 1995. Eighty students, 57 of whom were football players, falsified their Pell Grant applications, illegally securing more than $220,000 in federal grant money. Federal officials described the scam as "perhaps the largest centralized fraud ... ever committed in the history of the Pell Grant program."[1][2] Moreover, the University provided over $400,000 worth of other, improper payments to Miami football players. The NCAA also ruled that the University failed to wholly implement its drug-testing program, and permitted three football student-athletes to compete without being subject to the required disciplinary measures specified in the policy.[3]

Dee graduated from the University of Florida in 1970 with his Bachelor of Arts. Later he went on to the University of Miami where he earned his Masters degree in 1973, and his Juris Doctorate in 1977.[1]

Dee began his career at the University of Miami, when he started as lawyer for this institution. He received the position Vice-President and General Council back in 1981. In 1993 Dee was named the athletic director for the Miami Hurricanes

Check this one out gnossos?

The comments are rich!

Is it just me, or has Trojan-nation successfully defended it’s position as it pertains to the NCAA/COI investigation/sanctions? There seems to be a whole lot more people on our bandwagon of justice these days.

And I honestly think I’m right on this. I know that we, here on CC, have successfully (in TOTALITY) shot down all our naysayers- and in the process, we’ve eloquently defended our institution honorably. And I check out many USC-centric blogs, but this one here (CONQUEST CHRONICLES, BABY!) is at the top of the heap for colorful, insightful, and honest commentary- both from the principals/mods, as well as the regular commenters. We’ve got a jewel of a site for venting and commending ALL THINGS TROJANS.

If I haven’t said it before, I’ll say it now.: Thanks Paragon and DC! And a special big thanks to our new moderators in Joey and Julio! (where are you Julio? School got you down something fierce these days???? I know, I know- you’re the ‘recruiting guy’, but damn son! Show us some more of your flash!)

I’ve been having problems with the “links” button Para. It might be me, but. . . .?

Here’s the link gnossos. (it’s a diatribe from Sports By Brooks and it regards Paul Dee)

Thank you, great reading and more fuel for the fire.

You should post that article separately so that more people will see it.
Logically it just doesn’t make sense in regards to the “crimes” and the punishment handed out if you look at the two situations.

“Fifty-seven players were implicated in a financial-aid scandal that the feds call "perhaps the largest centralized fraud upon the federal Pell Grant program ever committed." versus Reggie and OJ? give me a break, it’s mind boggling!

OK, OK!

Thanks guys, and I’ll get right on this when I get back from lunch. (slow day today- had to lay off 2 people. damn these times are tough!!!!!!!!!!)

I already found out that some dude named “Foley” might be the head of our Appeal. He’s a Florida State J.D. graduate. I want to find out who changed the bylaw to make it more difficult to win on appeal and info on where Garrett’s staff was headed post-appeal. It will definitely be Paul Dee centric though.

Look for it later on this afternoon. (I’ll have some time to kill. Depressed to lose 2 of some of my very best this morning. ;- ( Fuck! I’m Bummed!

What a way to start the month...

and this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Expect official unemployment in California jump to over 13% by Christmas, and worse in LA. Real unemployment is already over 20% in the formerly golden state. Time to break out the old Misery Index.

You guys find the coolest shit to occupy my time. (gnossos had me reading Jenkins- . . . . . . .and I had Stieg Larsson pegged for my summertime reading? NOTE: I’m dating a Swedish girl right now. She’s off the charts and she is a copious reader of all things. . . . . .Euro! Yuck!!!!! Euro-booty? Another matter altogether, know what I mean?)

That link is great it also took me to Heisman House

this guy has some great items on Fat Fuck Dee and the whole mess. My concern is how FFD and the corrupt ncaa is going to sandbag this whole process and uphold the sanctions.

Below is an excerpt from one of the articles re: FFD’s 45 minute press conference issuing the sanctions.

“OUTRAGEOUS STATEMENT NUMBER 1: Paul Dee Essentially States That the Committee Wanted to Impose Penalties That Were Severe Enough to Negate all of USC’s Recent Success in Football.

At about the 24 minute mark, Dee is asked how the COI came up with these penalties and what specific precedent cases were looked at to base the penalties on. Dee pointedly avoided the question of precedent cases (because he knew the imposed penalties are wildly inconsistent with precedent) and instead stated that the committee felt that punitive sanctions were in order. Dee then said:

"The sanctions that were put in place we believe most properly respond to the benefits gained by (USC) through its notoriety that occurred during these periods of time, which led to enhanced recruiting, which led to their ability to recruit other athletes. Consequently we thought at least in the area of scholarship limitations that that would be an appropriate penalty."

Wow. So Paul Dee claims that the benefits USC gained from the 15 games Bush played in while ineligible resulted in all their recruiting successes from the 2005 class on, thus warranting the massive reduction of 30 scholarships. There are so many things criminally wrong with this statement. First, it is extremely disparaging of the University and all of Bush’s teammates (in the case of Carson Palmer, Troy Polamalu, Justin Fargas, etc, his predecessors). If I were Carson Palmer, Troy Polamalu, Matt Lienart, Mike Patterson, Lofi Tatupu, Shawn Cody, Matt Grootegood, or any of the other several dozen Trojan All-Pac 10 honorees "during these periods of time" I would have a hard time not punching Paul Dee in the mouth if I saw him in an airport. !"

Believe it or not?

The BN had an interesting diatribe against our appeal, only after a week or two after the sanctions were handed down upon our team. But in it, he has a great number of links that I’ll hope to utilize for our “framing” of the argument on whether or not our appeal has any merit. (which it does. essentially- all the info this Patroclus uses can be turned on it’s head. and which figures, due to the intensity of our rivalry. really though, the arguments this guy uses, if you juxtapose the parties- it goes in our favor. those guys sure know how to “color” commentary, I’ll tell you that much!)

Paul Dee? What a loathsome S.O.B., eh?
