PrintApparently Nestor was right all along, as we close out the decade Los Angeles is indeed living the Trojan Times.
The Los Angles Times reports:
USC beats UCLA in U.S. News & World Report rankings
After a long and steady climb, it's the first time the Trojans' campus has bested its Westwood rival in the annual listing.
Nice headline! Must be going over like a lead balloon "over there." Funny how after pounding us over the head with claims of academic superiority based on the US News rankings, they're all about "world rankings" now. Not to the Mushrooms: If you live by the sword you have to be prepared to die by it.
Fortunately for Ucla, the student body possesses a superior level of sophistication and perspective than the "nation" that purports to represent them.
Jasmine Hill, UCLA's undergraduate student body president, said she thought state budget cuts may have hurt her campus' ranking but that most Bruins still consider their school the better one. "That rivalry with USC means so much for us. The fact that USC is above us in the ranking, that's huge."
Fight On Bruins! But for now Tommy Trojan owns The Sword, and Los Angles.

Yah the Herald was the best and I delivered that fishwrap on my Bike.
My HS girlfriends Dad wrote for that paper as well as I went to HS with Cathy Furillo ( Buds Daughter) and played FB with his nephew. Allan Malamud was the best.
So Fight On USC followers and Don’t worry WE Will Still Play on Saturdays and Bowls will come later, for WE ARE SC not That other Softball University. Oh and don’t say you now have a baseball team, it’s not Real Baseball unless you use Wooden Bats

Rode down in the elevator at the Hilton Tampa Bay Super Bowl XVIII with Furillo and Tom Flores on game day. Furillo was a very funny guy.
