USC, Miami (Fl.) Continue Exchange Program
Last month, incoming USC freshman offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson was released from his letter of intent in the wake of the NCAA sanctions, and subsequently he decided to enroll at Miami (Fl.) instead. In the meanwhile, many of us were excited to see the 6'7" prima donna with a father resembling that of Lamar Griffin "take his talents to South Beach." Yet, despite our relief regarding the completion of the Henderson saga, we were forced to listen to multiple fanbases warn us to stop blindly supporting Kiffin. Even our buddies over at Rocky Top Talk said Long Shaft Lane was turning our brains into "mush." Personally, my brain's been full of mush for years, so don't blame Coach.
But now, weeks following Randy Shannon's midnight seizure of Seantrel, it seems as if 'SC is returning the favor in snagging wideout Thearon Collier from the Hurricanes, according to Ryan Abraham of USCFootball.com:
Former Miami wide receiver Thearon Collier has decided to head west and become a USC Trojan. The 5-foot-9, 190-pound junior receiver from Booker T. Washington in Miami can help USC as a pass catcher and a returner. Go inside for the full story on Collier's arrival at USC.
Rumors regarding Collier's transfer have been circling over the past couple of weeks. USCFootball.com has confirmed that Collier has been accepted by USC admissions and will start his fall semester with the rest of the team on Monday.
Collier is on campus today and is attending the final scrimmage of fall camp. If Collier is medically cleared, he will be able to practice with the team starting Monday.
He will not be eligible to play football during the 2010 season, however. Collier will sit out a year and redshirt and then become eligible for the 2011 and 2012 seasons.
Yes, in case you were wondering, we're now believers in Kiffin more than ever before. Recruiting a kid who amassed 250 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns for Miami is certainly a reason to get excited. Well, maybe not. But hey, this has been one heck of an offseason in terms of news circulation.
As for the actual story regarding Collier, I hope he has fun with this depth chart. Nonetheless, welcome to USC and the Trojan Family. Fight On!

Let's be careful commenting on TC
Heard he went through some very tough personal / family related issues which would have broken any one of us. So please keep that in mind.
This is good news
We should all welcome this young man. We are blessed with a lot of receiving talent, but with the nature of college football and our sanctions, depth is more important than ever. Good get Coach K.

This is good news
Starting with the 2011 recruiting class, we will only be able to hand out 15 scholarships a year. The more we can get on scholarship now, the better we will be able to weather the upcoming scholarship limitations. All things considered, I would have preferred an offensive linemen but it is very unlikely we will bumb up against the 2010 class limit of 25 scholarships or the overall limit of 85/75.
Fight On!
We have accepted partial sanctions
so, in the likely event that our appeal is not heard by natl signing day on Feb 1, USC will have self-imposed scholie limits of 20/80 for 2011. additionally, we also have room for up to 10 EEs due to leftover capacity in the 2010 class.
