Posters on the USC Hoops Message board and We Are SC have hinted that USC may be in the mix for former Texas commit and 2011 high major SF/PF prospect Deandre Daniels. Daniels was recently cleared by the NCAA and has the OK to play in the 2010 season, making him eligible a year earlier, meaning he is looking to sign immediately. He may ave academic issues down the road, but there's no question that Deandre would be a talented pickup for O'Neill and bolster an already excellent recruiting class.
Although he hasn't mentioned USC as a candidate, Daniels is supposedly looking for immediate playing time and if he wishes to stay on the west coast USC has a scholarship available and has teammate Bryce Jones committed to play. UCLA also has a ride, but that would leave them with 0 open schollies for 2011 if Tyler Honeycutt and Malcolm Lee elect to stay after this season. Kentucky, another team mentioned by Daniels, is also bringing in 6 highly touted freshman which might make playing time sparse. Either way, look for news on him over this weekend.
