Pac-10 expansion scenarios are coming to light...
Joey will have more on this tomorrow but I wanted to put this up...P
From ESPN Los Angeles...
Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott laid out a host of expansion scenarios to athletic directors on Friday, the first day of conference meetings here. They range from a full merger with the Big 12; to merging with six current Big 12 schools, including Texas; to adding Colorado and Utah; to the status quo, according to one athletic director.
On Sunday morning, Scott will brief the school presidents and chancellors.
Nobody here expects the conference to expand any time soon, certainly not by Sunday, the final day of the meetings. Still, the possibility of adding schools -- which could lead to a financial windfall for the conference, as well as ratchet up competition -- has several attendees excited by the possibilities.
"Larry and the Pac-10 are being very proactive. That's what I like," said Washington athletic director Scott Woodward. "We're not the bug on the windshield. We're kind of driving the bus."
Larry Scott knows how to turn a buck!
I like his aggressiveness. Even if it doesn't go down I like the fact that he is going for it all in trying to significantly increase the Pac-10's exposure.
It will be interesting to see how things shake out.

What a great line...
“We’re not the bug on the windshield. We’re kind of driving the bus.”
LARRY SCOTT RULES!!!
USC needs to use Larry as a profile for our next AD – megastud business man. Sorry, Ed and Pat, I’m busy.
Baylor wants in!
as per Chip Brown from orangeblood.com
Already, the political forces in Texas are preparing to make demands that if six schools from the Big 12 are going to be invited to the Pac-10, Baylor should replace Colorado on that list, according to two sources close to the situation.
“If you’re going to have an exported commodity involved in this, do you think we’re going to allow a school from outside the state of Texas to replace one of our schools in the Big 12 South? I don’t think so. We’re already at work on this,” said a high-ranking member of the Texas Legislature who asked not to be identified.
Ugh why
Baylor is a strong undergraduate school but not as a research institution, they’re Christian, and they don’t bring a new TV market like Colorado does. They have two national championships… in all sports, ever. Colorado has 22 titles (although admittedly, all but 6 are in skiing. Still, one is in football!), vastly superior academic rankings, they’re a large public university, they bring the Denver market, and they fit the Pac-10 culture MUCH better.

It's all Texas politics
the state controls UT, A&M, and TX Tech, but Baylor has a strong alumni base in TX with lots of lawyers from a pretty good law school. thus, there is a high percentage of Baylor alums in the state legislature.
it is all politics. no one wants their school left out. with Rick Perry as governor, however, I think a deal could be cut excluding Baylor. but, it will be quite a fight, and it’s a fight they already had and won re: Baylor in the B12.
after Baylor, UT can’t go anywhere w/out A&M AND Tx Tech, IMO.
Baylor doesn't even belong in the Big 12
The SEC will probably nab them up out of desperation.
Either way, they should be happy to be a bottom dweller in any major conference.
