Mustain Staying...Gable Considers Transfer

Not really news as we know other teams will reach out...

On Mustain...

Well, it appears you can scratch one big name off the list of USC juniors and seniors who potentially could transfer in the wake of the NCAA sanctions.

I left a message for senior quarterback Mitch Mustain, asking him to get back to me to discuss "his situation."

He replied as follows via text: "There is no situation. I don’t have plans to leave."

Not surprising...

On Gable...

Senior tailback C.J. Gable said he would consider transferring to another school if he were guaranteed a starting job, but, as of today, he’s planning to remain at USC.

Gable said two schools have contacted him, which is allowable under NCAA bylaws. He told them wasn’t thinking about transferring at this point, but he left open the possibility in a phone conversation with the Register.

"The reason I would go to another school would be that I’m not playing," said Gable, who came out of spring second on the depth chart behind fellow senior Allen Bradford. "That would be the only way. This is my last year. I’m not trying to sit around

"I don’t want to get (misled by another school). I want them to be straight up with me — no ‘recruiting answers.’ Give the me the real answer. Am I going to play or not?"

And that's the other shoe that could drop...is there really any guarantee that any player would start? SO the new team helps cripple SC further then doesn't use the kid. Any player who bolts get what they get if they are sold a bill of goods. Like I said in the comments of another thread I will wish them luck and wish them all the best but I won't cry if a player bolts.

Don't think other coaches would try to poach a player to leave 'SC only to lie to him and not play him. I hope CJ likes to gamble because that is exactly what this is...all because of a missed bowl game?

Like I said...I wish them luck!

Gable wants to start. Period.

He’d probably end up being third on the depth chart regardless of the sanctions. Not surprised by this in the slightest.
