LenDale White cut from the Seahawks...
Well, so much for that...
This is why I don't stay emotionally attached to players once they leave USC. I want them to do well but it is all on them....
The Seahawks cut LenDale White on Friday afternoon, officially making a move that was foreshadowed when a press release announcing the move was posted prematurely just after noon.
That initial announcement was taken down, but The Seattle Times confirmed that White's release was, in fact, imminent and reported that. Just before 2, the move was officially made.
On the face of it this would be confusing because it appeared that Pete Carroll was happy when he traded for White. Why would he then cut him?
Later on in the day the picture came more into focus as to why White was probably cut...
LenDale White likely will face a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's drug policy, a league source told NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora on Friday, although that wasn't the main reason the Seattle Seahawks surprisingly released the running back earlier in the day.
Seahawks officials wouldn't confirm or comment on the matter, but league sources said White has been going through the process of facing the suspension.
League sources indicated to La Canfora that the Seahawks were aware of the probable suspension when they acquired White from the Tennessee Titans last month in a draft-weekend trade. White's failure to curb his tendency for being difficult to coach -- not showing up on time, not fully buying in, not endearing himself to the team, having a sense of entitlement -- was more at the core of why he was released, according to sources.
You to wonder just what some of these guys are thinking.
White got a second chance to prove himself with his former coach who knew how to use him and he literally pissed it away.
I just can't feel sorry for him.
Does he not know the rules...league or otherwise?
Like I said, this is why I don't get emotionally attached once players leave (unless they were problem players to begin with, then I never cared). This isn't a USC problem and I really don't think it looks bad for the program because he left four years ago but that doesn't mean we should be happy about it either.
I wanted White to really do well. I wanted him to prove that he was the player he thought he was and that Tennessee was wrong for trading him. Sadly, that is not the case. This is the same player who a couple of years ago cut back on the sauce and lost something like 30 pounds when he came into camp. That showed me he was serious about his NFL career...now, not so much.
It's a damn shame...
Good luck LenDale.

'Tis a Pity
I honestly never really warmed up to Lendale. He was a little punky in college and has never been able to grow out of his character issues.
White was my favorite running back of the Carroll era
More than Bush, Fargis, Byrd, Washington, and McKnight. I was one of those few in the stands wearing the #21 jersey in a sea of #11 and #5 jerseys. He was the most consistent by far of the group. I don’t think that there is any need to forgive him for not getting the 4th and 2. He won a lot of games for USC, holds the record for most touchdowns scored by a Trojan, and did it all without taking any extra gifts on the side like Reggie did. You may not like his attitude then or now, but he did right by us, and deserves a little respect for what he did for our program.
His lack of maturity in handling his professional career shouldn’t make us lose sight of his accomplishments while at USC. I feel bad for him, and I hope he catches on somewhere else.
I agree. It was easy to take his downhill running for granted until you saw poor Chauncey Washington being asked to replicate it.
"When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea"
The guy outgained Reggie in the championship game
and scored 2 or 3 touchdowns, and doesn’t even get an interview in the postgame. Lendale was the driving force behind our success. In fact I will so far as saying we could have done without Reggie as long as we had Lendale.
He was the iron fist under the velvet glove
but he’s got too many missing screws to make it in the pros
Still LOCO after all these years
All hail Augustus Kiffin!

Reminds me of Rey garnering all the attention
from the very deserving Cushing, Matthews and Maiva. boy, once the media picks their guy, they stick to him. nothing against Rey, by the way. but, Cush was better.
I don't dislike Len, but he has been a handful even at USC and is an atypical get the big money and slack off pro in today's world.
They are everywhere is today’s sports and society so I am not surprised he will not be the last guy that does this. I feel these cats think they don’t owe anybody anything, but if there were not fans they would have a great job that they all have. When you think about it LW is no better than Nestor and his politcal bosses, always taking from the masses and not giving back.
Well basically John Wooden was and is a FRAUD, by the way where is Sammy Gilbert Ben needs some ballers.

Don't know if I agree with you
He had a 4 year career in the NFL. He always had a maturity problem, and now it appears that he has a problem with substance abuse. He played at USC for 3 years without getting anything in return but an opportunity to play professional football. Yes he did take the money, and didn’t really give his bosses what he was paid for, but Lendale will never, ever, be as bad as JaMarcus Russell.
Right there Frak, only that WSU QB could have been worst.
Let me put it this way when the NFL had the holdout and after Erik the dick Dickerson pulled his crap on Rams, I said thats it no more following Pro FB. This started a chain reaction in my pro fanhood, since then I haven’t bought a ticket to a pro contest except for one time. I will buy college events but not the pros heck I don’t even like to go for free, to much hassle. And yes LW was my favorite over Bush, heck I even like Hershall Dennis better than both.

I don't follow pro ball either
Some of the reason for that is the lack of a Los Angeles team to follow. But most of it is the lack of enthusiam that the millionaire pros seem to have for the game. There are a few that I admire like Farve and Manning who always seem to play hard despite already having enough money for 10 lifetimes. Guys like JaMarcus Russell, who get paid for potential, don’t really make it easy to like the NFL.
The college kids have something to prove. They are motivated to do well, and I can see that as a fan.
