Alabama Fans Want to Play USC
There has been a lot of off-season discussion about who Alabama should fill some vacancies in their future OOC scheduling. We have a poll up over at Roll Bama Roll and it looks like the team the Crimson Tide faithful would most like to see Bama play is USC.

Tell them to get in line
All SEC fans say that however none of their athletic departments back it up. Oh and no I’m not making that up (unlike when they make that claim), there was an article on ESPN about USC calling and the SEC teams saying “thanks but no thanks”. Look it up: Ted Miller, ESPN Pac10 blog May 26th, 2009. It’s not like USC was asking for a date next year on Sept whatever, but any date in future years. I have no doubt the SEC fans want the game, too bad their school has other priorities (we should leave it at that!).
I bet Bama AD will schedule USC in the next couple of years
That is University of Southern Colorado (aka CSU Pueblo) or University of Southern Connecticut (future name for Southern Connecticut State University)
Bama doesn't duck people
not the way that Florida does. Bama went to Va Tech last season for their 1st game I believe.
Clemson one year, then Va Tech the next. That’s correct – Alabama enjoys a good matchup to start the season, and wouldn’t back down from USC (as other teams in the SEC may have).
Our schedule was tentatively full through 2014 on out of conference matchups, but due to some chickens cancellations, most of us would like to see USC on a neutral field to start the 2012 season.
(begin half-facetious tongue-in-cheek smacktalk)
Then, after the beatdown, it’s always fun to listen to Lame Kitten cry about cheating refs.
USC doesn't have an opening in 2012
The earliest they could schedule a game is 2013 and that is only if they wish to schedule a 13th game. Otherwise it’s 2014.

Yeah you guys really beat down Lane and the Vols last year
and screw the neutral field. USC will come to Bama. We always seem to do well there.
Bama went to Atlanta, they didn't go to Blacksburg
Playing Va-Tech, a team known for losing early season big games, is a whole lot different than playing USC. A team known for beating OOC opponents about the head. Not saying Alabama is ducking USC, but you have to wonder after what Lopez said.

Nothing like changing the subject.
Good for Bama, doesn’t mean a thing when it comes to game you get to schedule. Still it wasn’t bad for a joke.

Come on...
SC has had it’s share of top bowls…you can do better than that…
"Mention USC to a Bruin and they get angry; mention UCLA to a Trojan and they laugh."
Florida? You are setting the standard rather low...
OOC in 2009: Virginia Tech, FIU, UNT, Chattanooga – 1 decent game out of 4
OOC in 2008: Clemson, Tulane, WKU, Ark State – 1 decent game out of 4
OOC in 2007: WKU, FSU, Houston, ULM – 1 (and may be a 1/2 if you count Houston) decent game out of 4
OOC in 2006: Hawaii, Duke, ULM, FIU – 2 would be a stretch, Will give them Hawaii and Duke (both huge stretches)
OOC in 2005: MTSU, USM, Utah Sate – lol
Cupcake much, Bama AD?
kleph, since you linked my post on RBR
Do you mind retorting my post? How about the fact that you have to go back to 1988 to find 2 OOC games on Bama’s schedule against BCS level competition (vs. Penn State, @TAMU).
my retort is this...
i have a lot of respect for paragon and dc trojan and i posted this fanshot in an effort to foster discussion between the two blogs. you might note that this is something i’ve done on several occasions here at CC in the past with some success. but this time the prevailing attitude seems to be one of condescension – thereby living up to one of the most common accusation you face from your cross-town rivals. and i made our readers aware of it. as for your inquiry, nothing i’ve seen posted here gives me any reason to believe what i say will be taken for anything but fodder for ridicule so i’m not particularly inclined to waste my time with a response.

Oh come on.
We can have good discussions about most things. But I don’t know what discussion you anticipated with this.
We’ve had to listen to SEC fans talk about how their teams can whoop anybody while they hide behind ADs who display staggering cowardice in their OOC scheduling; your team is no exception (although I do give you credit for the Penn State home-and-home). Meanwhile we play in a conference with a true round-robin that no team has emerged from undefeated, we play Notre Dame every year, and we schedule teams year-in and year-out that few other teams with their eye on the title dare play.
Alabama fans want to play USC? Cool. Your athletic department doesn’t want to or it already would have happened.
My point is, if you guys as a fanbase want to take on big-name OOC teams, that’s an internal discussion for you guys. There’s little we can do but roll our eyes when SEC teams march proudly to the top of the polls on the backs of teams like Florida International, Tennessee-Chattanooga, North Texas, The Citadel, Middle Tennessee, Tulane, and Louisiana Tech.
MAGNIFICENT GRAND CHAMPION CC NCAA BRACKET 2010
LOL
Ridiculing SEC teams for pathetic OOC scheduling is not limited to USC. It’s been noted by fans of other Pac-10 teams as well as by fans nationwide. The fact that Alabama is playing 2 BCS teams OOC for the first time since 1988 is astonishing (off course I am going to just ignore that upstart GSU team on your schedule).
You can bring up every kind of excuse (need $, SEC is tough enough etc etc), but the facts are facts. Your fans may want to play us, but your AD’s in SEC will not make the effort.
You're making a grievous mistake by getting in bed with fucla. Are you kidding?
Have yourself a stiff drink and remember who you are. The Tide and the ruins don’t even belong in the same sentence.

yeah, Alabama doesn't belong in the same sentence with the Bruins
who beat no. 3 Alabama in 2000 at the Rose Bowl and no. 17 Alabama in Alabama in 2001 the last two times the teams met:-)
Yes I know where both teams currently stand:-)
I think Agrippa
was referring to the staggering difference in history and tradition when you compare Bama to ucla. Sure if you want to take 2 games at any point in history you can demonstrate that any team, has beaten any other team in the past, but you wouldn’t be changing the overall history of what both teams have accomplished.
For example, if you were to ask a random slice of American football fans if they knew who Tommy Prothro was, I think most people would say Tommy Who? If you ask the same people if they know who Bear Bryant was, I would think most if not all of them would know that he coached Alabama in the 60s and 70s. Alabama has legendary teams, coaches, and players. I don’t think anyone even could tell you who the best coach the bruins had was. Its hard to even say if the bruins had an era when they were good for any length of time. My last recollection of when the bruins were competitive consistently was back in the early to mid 1980s.
So I guess I have to disagree with you DJ. Respectfully of course. The bruins and Alabama do not belong in the same sentence together.
He's a snarky one!
And God bless him for that! You, ucladj- are my favorite Bruin in all teh inturneztz. Sersly. How’s Chicago? Saw your man, Obama this morning. Damn good press conference. Man, I guess it’s true- living in Chicago can only help a man weather the nasty storms. They grilled his ass today, and he came out of it fairly well. I must commend his efforts and answers.
Now, about Goldman Sach, AIG, and Fanny Mae?

Believe me, the Obamessiah isn't my man
all I saw before he became president was another two-bit Chicago pol. Every one of these guys is dirty. They are all machine politicians who live on patronage and connections, and anyone who thinks Barry O is the virgin in the whorehouse is sadly deluded. I’ve seen nothing in his job performance that suggests competence, or integrity. I just hope the US can weather this guy’s piss-poor performance for another 2.5 years before we can turn him out.
Chicago is very nice right now. Especially since he isn’t here most of the time.

might as well toss in UCLA knocking off Tennessee the last two years as well, despite our our overall suckitude.

In case there is any question. The comments I made were directed at the author of this quote. I don’t have any problem with you or Bama.

I acknowledge that Bama played a pitiful game against TN; I was referencing Lane’s lack of knowledge of the rules after the game ;)
Bama would have no trouble showing up against USC.
All they have to do is say "yes"
Honestly I think Bama wants a neutral with USC, it fits better with their scheduling methods. However USC like home/home series, but that might change in the future. Otherwise I can’t really see why the two don’t have a future date since we are pretty sure the Trojans made the call.
I’m not sure what dolt keeps putting the misinformation out there that “Bama said no” (perhaps DFWTrojan). Go back and read your AD’s comments – some teams said no, most said ok, and of those that said ok, most had scheduling conflicts through 2015. We were looking for someone to play since Ga Tech whimped out, but your schedule is full. We’d still like to play you, but it’s going to have to be after 2015 according to both of our ADs.
That isn't what the assistant AD said.
He never said most said “OK” , he was just being diplomatic. Read it again but without your SEC glasses on. Saying “yes, but the schedule won’t let us” is the same thing as saying “no”. Everyone knows who has what on the schedule before they ask. At the time he said that USC had openings in 2012, 2013, and two in 2014. No one is saying who said “no”, but for a conference that loves to schedule a game or two on short notice, makes you wonder.

You talk a good talk, now and again- but you totally lost my respect when you tried to tell me there are no pyramids in Peru and that I read about my travels in South America from a travel book. You’re a dick and you know it.
Don’t come over here talking about a storm’s about to come (Bama wants SC), and cry like baby when you say, “Shit! It’s raining!” (back up your shit already, punk!)

I don’t hate the guy, but let us all hope we never meet up with each other. It’s like that with me and him)

You really are not as bright as you think
USC hasn’t lost an OOC game since 2002 and that was on the road agaisnt a team that ended the season in the top 10. As for the rest of it, do you really wonder why people have issues with you? Not that you should or do care.
Well I guess you are taking a run at me and no I said 9 of 10 as a guess.
I didn’t feel like reserching it and what your F-ing deal dude or dudette, and I never wonder if people have issues with me I just state my stuff and move on.

Why are do you keep coming back? You took a shot at USC, that’s fine and I never said you shouldn’t (not that you said I did, just making the point). However don’t be surprised if someone says something back in defense. You wanted to make the point USC loses OOC games, however that is far from true. You were so far it begged a response. Now lets see if you are a man of your word…

Oh know you have it completely wrong I am the most diverse person you will ever meet, I will read, listen, and live Diverse.
But after reading some of your comments I decipher a double meaning and understand want Bix is saying, basically I see a snake in the grass and the only way i deal with that is with shovel head. But as I said please go your own way, as I am not a part of Bama Roll and will never comment there. Bix on the other hand was rasied in a half Bama Household, so that is why he probably shows up. I don't think it matters what you think of me
Everyone who’s had the misfortune of having read our back and forths from way back up until the here and now- just pity you. I’ve locked you up so many times, I’m gonna start calling the “rear naked choke” hold “The Kleph” when I teach the newcomers at my academy.
Trust me, being “droll” is something quite easy to deal with. Being you? Damn, that’s just too cruel to process. And besides, I’m not into self-flagellation. Bottom line, whoever raised you needs to be socked real hard. You’re a bully to those you feel superior to; an intellectual infant with absolutely no manners or class, and a blogo-holic who delves into material and topic matter far beyond your comprehension and understanding.
Advice: gets your balls out your purse and buy yourself a perspective.
BTW: you’re barely tolerated at CGB, and IF, IN FACT- you enjoy any coziness with anyone here on the SB Nation sites- it’s because RBR (out of the kindness of their hearts) took you on as a moderator and allowed you to class-crash their awesomeness. You, boy- can never ever measure up to OTS and Pete Holiday. I’ll be ice-skating in Hell before that ever happens.

Let's tone it down a bit...
I am not sure of the issues between you and Kleph…they are not my business but as a moderator on another site i would appreciate it if he is treated with deference.
I am not liking the tone of discussion being shown when opposing fans come over with POV’s that are different than our own. kleph isn’t some arbitrary flamer…he came over to put forth a discussion on a subject that many of us find interesting. Even if we disagree he should be given quarter when visiting here.
As I have said numerous times I want our guests who come over here in attempt to have constructive discussion treated with respect.
Let’s try to keep our eye on the ball OK?

Take it Easy
I appreciate the recent discussions on your site. I have always had a great deal of respect for Bama; that doesn’t mean I haven’t made some jokes at their expense. I for one would love to see a Home v Home with the Tide. But you must admit your side, as well as the rest of the SEC hasn’t been what we would consider “friendly”. Anytime the subject of OOC schedules comes up we hear the same rhetoric. SC has to schedule OOC games because of the weak PAC 10, etc. Most SEC fans want to totally discount the games against Auburn and Arkansas. The truth is games are scheduled so far in advance there is no way of knowing the team you scheduled to play will be competitive come game time. It does appear some teams down south (not Florida) are beginning to play east of the big muddy. Hope to see your continued participation over here; I for one quite enjoy your perspective.
Banned from BN and proud of it
It will never happen
Thank goodness that PC and Kiff scheduled USC/Tenn in the 2020s. What are the odds that Tenn cancels that series? The SEC is scared of USC. There is no other conclusion to draw.
Bring it on
I’d love to play ’Bama. Have a lot of respect for the Tide and would make for a great matchup.

It would be great, the most anticipated game of the season.
Kind of like the USC/Ohio State match-up, nothing but hype all off season. However they have to say “yes” first. Honestly I find it hard to believe Bama is ducking USC, but the fact remains USC is open and has proven they are willing but it hasn’t happen. Something isn’t right with that picture and from reports it isn’t USC.
For the record
the Pac10 is leading 11-9 for a 55% win percentage in head to head matchups with the SEC since 1998.
THIS!
I'd love to see USC play Alabama in a regular season match
I don’t think it will happen any time soon however.
[DELETED ZOMG NO POLITICS]
USC vs BAMA
Would love to see Bama and USC play, I was at the last game they played, was 1978 I think, didn’t look it up. The Tide lost that day but it was a good ballgame. The two of them should open the season, at Jerryworld of course, nowhere but the best for the best. I think it would be the game of the year next to the mythical national championship.
Aloha Bowl - I was there!
Dec 1985. I honestly don’t remember a thing about Bama’s team. All that I remember is that USC was led by redshirt freshman sensation, Rodney Peete, who beat out Sean Salisbury for the starting job. But, Peete blew out his knee in the Aloha Bowl game, and USC was dead in the water after that. No offense whatsoever w/out Peete. Coach Tollner was a great OC, but didn’t have the skills for HC.
I remember that I wore the game t-shirt literally for decades. It was just cool that it was the Aloha Bowl with two heavyweight teams, even though we got spanked.
But, it’s the same story as the UT/Bama game – if our QB hadn’t been knocked out, perhaps the outcome would have been different.
Please...
Let’s try to make our guests feel welcome. We can disagree with those who come here with different opinions in a respectful manner.
If they want to drop bombs then we will address it as it happens.
Do we really want the same reputation as another site???
