I am never comfortable with these comparisons but Lane Kiffin would know better than anyone...
USC coach Lane Kiffin isn’t prone to hyperbole like predecessor Pete Carroll, but Kiffin couldn’t help himself after watching freshman Dillon Baxter run in Saturday’s scrimmage.
"He looked like Reggie versus Fresno," Kiffin said.
Yes, Kiffin went there. On Nov. 19, 2005, Reggie Bush set a Pac-10 record with 513 all-purpose yards against Fresno State.
Baxter wasn’t quite that prolific Saturday, but the way he left flailing defenders in his wake was definitely Bush-esque.
There is only one Reggie Bush.
That is one set of big shoes to fill. Here are Baxter's thoughts...
"It’s crazy just being compared to Reggie," said Baxter, who, like Bush, is a tailback from San Diego. "He’s one of the greatest players I’ve ever seen run the ball. I’m excited to show everybody that I can produce the same things that he did."
Dillon Baxter will make his own mark to be sure.
