Woah

Belotti passed on Oregon’s AD for an ESPN football analysis gig? Whatever floats your boat…

Back in the Pac

People here think he will do TV for a year and then return to coaching.

Either he's bailing on trouble, like some speculate; or...

He just wanted to be AD for a year to hand-pick his successor as head football coach and now he’s ready to move on. Either way, an interesting career move.

Agree, he probably pocketed some nice coin for his loyalty. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him do what RTR is saying.

STILL LOCO AFTER ALL THESE YEARS!

I don't buy it

Why do the AD gig for a year, doesn’t make sense. He didn’t need to become AD to hand pick his successor, Kelly was picked for that job while Bellotti was still head coach. They had a place holder for AD just the year before, why do it again? He could have been hired by ESPN the year before, they are always looking for talent. If he wanted to be a HC, why leave Oregon? I guess he could have though he would be happy as AD and it only took one year to figure out he didn’t. However he has been around long enough to know what the job was and wasn’t. The only job in the Pac10 that might open in a year is at ASU and maybe Stanford. However both of those are a step down from Oregon, the job with the Trees is probably two steps down.

Pure speculation

but, I believe that I recall reading that he was getting a divorce. And, Eugene is a small town. Maybe just needed to get away.
