CollegeInsiders.com Names K.O. Pac-10 Coach of the Year
On paper, O'Neill's selection makes a lot of sense after he guided the Trojans, who were picked 9th in the conference, to a 16-14 record. Whether he was actually the Pac-10's best coach is another date, but in terms of Wins and Losses, he's certainly a deserving recipient.

Compared to expectations and circumstances
he did an admirable job.
With actually coaching talent and X’s and O’s…..he was not the conference’s best coach. Still, it’s nice that’s he’s being recognized for the job he did given the circumstances.
totally agree
Given the material he had, plus the circumstances he was asked to work under, he did a phenomenal job.
Inexcusable end of season meltdown
(especially at home) against the crappiest teams in the Pac. Probably had the best (and biggest) starting five in the Conference and couldn’t generate anything against a basic zone with his absolutely craptastic offensive scheme. Fired two of the best assistant coaches on any squad for no other reason than to assert his power and style (whatever that is). A hard worker but a wild man on the court. He’s a Mike Garret kinda guy like Bibby and Kreuter and (ahem) Mike Riley.
Get’s full credit for finally beating ucla at Glen but I can’t remember a more suckfull ruin team.
Should have tied for the Conference Championship.
Get out of jail free card is not deserved.
STILL LOCO AFTER ALL THESE YEARS!
