David Sills' recruitment: The joke is on bRuins
So Mushroom & Co are making a big deal about DS's committment (not that I am happy about it either). But the real is joke is on bRuins after you check this out:

Note the article is from a year ago - which means DS was 11 yo when Ricky sent him materials...
Maybe more than monitored. David's father, David Sills IV, said the family received a questionnaire from UCLA. That was a year ago. They discarded it. It might have been a mass mailing for a camp. Maybe Rick Neuheisel was that desperate for quarterback help. Who knows?
Discarded? Good decision!

And to think that they were being all self righteous about recruiting young kids
Drinking so much that you forget your name is like trying to cure cancer, it might not be possible, but you should never stop trying.

What will this lead to next girls softball players at age 9 and Volley Ball players too, let alone Soccer players.
As a player I would rather be recruited at 13 then 18 gives me more time to get my Pressers in line. You know Design and refreshments who to invite and where.

Sills' father, great PR, Kiff is a genius
“But David’s always wanted to go to USC. I mean, is there a better place to play football in the country? How can you pass up the best offer you’re ever going to get?”

weak try
kid gets a questionnaire from UCLA-subject unknown, that nobody knows anything about, because it was discarded-and that is the equivalent of USC offering a 13-year-old kid? OK….

I dont think that was the point
I think the family thought USC’s attempt at communication was a little more serious than a questionnaire. It looks to me that they liked that USC was taking David seriously despite his age.

Except all the dad said was that they received a questionnaire
Doesn’t say what the questionnaire was about and none of the family have clarified or recollected anything about it other than it was from UCLA. Gotta figure if it was anything even remotely “serious” the kid or the family would have held on to it if only to trumpet the kid’s potential and the fact that somebody was already looking at him a recruit.
If UCLA was going after 11-year old kids I think we’d have heard about it.

I think the Neuheisel reference in the article was meant in jest
Rick didn’t land a QB, and Prince and Brehaut are still unproven. Chow was really upset to lose that QB recruit (Nottingham?) to Stanford, so that leaves ucla in need of a QB. If Neuheisel wanted to look at this kid, it probably was in response to USC’s interest. He has more than a casual interest in USC in case you haven’t noticed.
By the way, Chow is really upset with not landing a QB this year. Chow considered Nottingham better than Prince or Brehaut.
