From the Helicopter Pilot

Star-divide

We're very close [to USC], and we'll go past them very soon," UCLA Coach Rick Neuheisel predicted'

I wonder if they will collect $200.00?

More from the same article:

"I think it is clear to anybody paying attention that there are two options in this town, " Neuheisel said.  "It's important to us to become a championship caliber-team, so the option becomes even more obvious."

In what decade?

Ineteresting quote from Riley

Riley, whom Neuheisel referred to as “the gold nugget,” said he had known Carroll since he was 12, and his absence forced a reevaluation. “I felt in my gut UCLA is the right fit, and I have an opportunity to make an instant impact,” he said.

Wonder if he was one of those “concerned about the competition” guys. Neuheisel promised this kid he would start.

No doubt about it

The Dick that is Rick is totally slick!

With Mays gone, that left McAllister and Beauchamp and who else at the safety positions? I’m not saying Dietrich Riley would have started for USC next season, but he would have had as good a chance as any to see major playing time. Especially under the new coaching of Coach Kiffin and DC Monte Kiffin. Under Carroll? Not too sure about that.

Either Riley is too stupid to understand that (or his parents, you know how parents go in all this recruiting business) or Coach Slick Dick essentially promised him a startting spot? And if Riley is all that is said about him, he could have challenged for some starting time on USC’s defense, but . . . .I’m not too sure about him getting major playing time on offense. When Taylor Mays came to USC he came at the same time Antwine Perez came as well. Perez was even an “early enrollment” but he couldn’t pass Mays on the depth even though he played a little and he practiced quite well. But there were young veterans with a year or more in Carrolls system that stiill played a lot that year, with Mays coming in on short-yardage 3rd downs. Point being, Mays saw a window of opportunity as a recruit, understood the prestige and history of USC football, and worked his ass off to make the coaches notice him enough to see the field.

As for Riley? I’m not too sure about that cat? Ucla could use good people on D. They sure as hell can use a ton of people on O. Riley might see playing time in both at Ucla in his freshman year. Practically guaranteed If he’s good enough, he’ll prolly declare for the draft after his junior season. I know if I were a part of fUcla-football, I’d for sure keep my options open on a year-by-year basis. . . . . .no telling WHAT Coach Slick is doing behind closed-doors because his track record has “thug” written all over it. (let’s not even pretend that his tenures at Colorado and Washington didn’t really happen. he’s a liar, cheater, and. . . . .at time, a pretty good coach. his resume documents it as such. that’s right! he’s the one coach in LA in the past couple of years to not only be accused of and determined to be a cheat- he’s the REAL Cheaty Pete. Fight On Coach Carroll! Coach Kiff has, thus far- carried your recruiting prowess! Can’t wait to see him own some Bruin-ass now!)
