Kiffin gets a head start on his 2015 class
As per ESPN: 13 year old David Sills from Delaware has committed to USC. Apparently the kid has always wanted to be a Trojan and has off the wall skill sets. Granted lots of things can happen between now and signing day, but it shows that we are on kids minds all throughout high school, even outside of California, and that we are a dream destination. Oh and to save the crosstown rivals some thinking power on how to spin this one, I believe the relevant headline, in the infamous words of tobacco executives: "Get them hooked while they are still young"

This is just silly
USC basketball did this a while back with Floyd. I don’t like it. Stay away from 13 year-olds.

It's one thing for basketball
If a kid is freakishly athletic. But for football, especially QB, there are an exponentially greater number of variables that can determine what kind of prospect this kid will be in 5 years.
I guess the assumption is that Steve Clarkson can do no wrong. I mean, if you believe so strongly in him that you’re going to recruit his 13 year old students, just hire the guy as your QB coach.
Stay away from 13 year-olds....This doesn't mean we recruited him
There’s nothing a football program can do if a 13 year old comes out and says I want to play for USC. It doesn’t mean that the coaching staff went to his 8th grade class and pulled him out, did a physical, made him run the 40, then gave him a LOI.
LOL
at the comment from a guy on the ESPN article:
“this can happen, when i was 13 i committed to my sega dreamcast”
Agreed
I remember getting a dreamcast on my birthday, which happened to fall on the same day as the superbowl. I was pissed that my parents made me go to a superbowl party to watch Rams v Titans. Turned out to be a pretty good game so I wasn’t unhappy for very long.
Drinking so much that you forget your name is like trying to cure cancer, it might not be possible, but you should never stop trying.
Love this Quote
“But David’s always wanted to go to USC. I mean, is there a better place to play football in the country? How can you pass up the best offer you’re ever going to get?”
I think Riley had known PC for 4 years. The coaches keep reaching deeper and deeper. It is just a meaningless verbal. There really is nothing to it, just a PR move. Agree that the NCAA should probably disallow recruiting until a kid has reached 16 or junior year.
But, without NCAA rules on the recruitment of kiddies, I fully expect this announcement in 5 years, “Just verbally committed to USC for the Class of 2023, 10 yo QB phenom, Cole Leinart!”

Excerpt from today's LA Times - Eric Sondheimer
“The recruiting battle isn’t close to over, either. USC has landed a blow for next recruiting season. One of the region’s top junior prospects, defensive tackle Antuan Woods from Woodland Hills Taft, announced he had committed to USC.”
Uhm...
I decided I wanted to go to USC when I was twelve, I had my own reasons and they had nothing to do with football. For some kids there is no substitute.
STILL LOCO AFTER ALL THESE YEARS!

very true. for some they just know & that's great!
for me, I seriously didn’t think I was going to go to college till after the military. I was just lucky the Marines convinced me that college first would be better for me (96 hours w/ a total of 12 hours sleep will do that…) Then it was a matter of visiting the colleges I had applied & got accepted to. Hardest & easiest decision ever.
