KO Owns LA!

Bumped - I forgot about a lot of these. This will be fun...P

First year Coach KO just swept the Bruins. This our 3rd win in a row and 3rd sweep this decade of the powerhouse program of the 60s across town.  Note to U¢LA fans, John Wooden retired in 1975. This seems like an opportune time to reflect on KO's performance and respond to some of his critics from last summer:

Star-divide

It's rather doubtful that O'Neil's USC program ever really threatens UCLA. - Rosenblatt

All traces of doubt have now been removed.  The threat is now real.

There are some major questions as to whether or not O'Neil can competently coach a team. - Rosenblatt

Questions answered.  USC, #4 in national scoring defense, #3 in Pac-10, 2 wins over ranked teams.

You know who he reminds me of? Paul Hackett. This is going to be fun. - Nestor

This is more fun that I possibly could have imagined.

The only expectations hanging over O’Neill’s head is to ’return to mediocrity." -MexiBruin

Better than a return to losing records?

Kevin O'Neil

has been a FAIL everywhere he coached. -Nestor

The FAILure sure does win a lot.

Kevin O'Neill, an assistant coach from the Memphis Grizzlies, will be the next coach to fail to close the gap. -gbruin

KO 2  U¢LA 0.  9-9 since 2002.  Three wins in a row. Three sweeps this decade.  Gap closed locally.  National perception gap to follow.

UA is not a bubble team last year if Lute is coaching...O'Neill is a terrible head coach and he did a terrible job with those players. -chaphill1

The "terrible" coach is currently a favorite to win PacX coach of the year.

O’Neil is in for a rough ride, and $C* fans with him…

They don’t need our help to feel sorry about their hire… -impaulv

Paul, you too?

Do you truly think the Bruins basketball cubpoard is bare? Is that your point? I would be interested in hearing the facts that caused you to form that conclusion. If that’s just your opinon, that’s fine. It doesn’t shine a very flattering light on your thought processes, but that’s OK. You’re certainly entitled to an opinion, even one without foundation. -Fox71 in response to me :)

Foundation formed. Cupboard bare.   Fox71, check your calendar. John Wooden retired in 1975.

Very nice.

UCLA’s basketball championships will soon be like Yale’s football championships, a historical footnote that no living person can quite remember.

Funny thing is——-It use to be a team went into Paully seeing all those banners and get weak knees, but now they just go did they even play BB back then and how many teams were there anyway 10.

LA Sports is what keep me off the streets and out of trouble, thanks to all the teams Rams, Dodgers, Lakers, USC sports and the Love of Tennis.

The look on that gentlemens face is classic.

It says: “what the hell is that thing you are holding and why are you in my way!”. I still can’t believe they made a big deal about winning that bowl, what a joke. Day of sure, but afterward not a chance.

Even funnier is that they have a mall cop there to protect their spoils

At the game at pauley

Neuheisel not once mentioned Eagle Bank Bowl. He would refer to the Eagle Bank Bowl as “the bowl win.”

Why not aspire to better?

USC usually has some good financial age packages.

Not to mention merit scholarships if score high enough

A lot of kids here are getting something from the university. Either financial aid or scholarships.

Fox 71

is one of the BN kooks who you can usually count on for some unintentional comedy.

I'll admit...

O’Neil has done a WHOLE lot better than I expected. I still think that SC is in for a rough ride with him. Yeah, he’s beat up on a crappy UCLA team. We’ll have to see how he does recruiting-wise. If he can follow up with 1 or 2 solid recruiting class, UCLA is in for bigger trouble than anyone could have forseen.

KO was exactly what you needed.

Not too sure if I said it before, but the KO hire worried me a bit because I thought he was a perfect fit. Seems like a no-nonsense blue collar type of guy. USC needed that badly. It will be interesting to see how the self-imposed sanctions will effect the bball program going into the future, but I always thought KO was a good choice.

I’m the type of Bruin fan that prefers to see a powerful USC team (as long as UCLA is also powerful). Not only is it good for both our schools, the games that happen when both of us are great are the ones we remember, the ones that end up being legendary. Those are the games you end up talking to your grand kids about. I much rather have that than beating up an “also-ran.”

Congrats on the good hire, but Ben will not be down for long.

Ben better hurry up, though

He’s getting Josh and Tyler next year, which is a huge upgrade over Roll and Drago. If he starts the season next year like he did this year, his seat will be hotter than the sun.

Funny thing is that they worship Kevin Love, but hate Drew Holiday.

I can’t remember in all the years Bruin fans turning on their players, some of these new fans are a joke. They expect people to be best player and win it all, and when that doesn’t happen they turn on there bothers in arms. All they ever had was sightings of good FB and great Bb, but now when BB goes into the Crapper, they turn to hating. What a lost bunch of PUNKS!
