Maria Sanchez and Steve Johnson almost give USC both national indoor titles in New York

Both netters made it to the finals with Sanchez winning and Johnson losing in a 3 set match. Maria Sanchez #7 beat Cals Jana Juricova #2 6-2, 3-6, 6-4) beating a pac-10 Rival who has beaten her in the past. Sanchez ran through a 32 draw with wins over the 4th and 6th seeded players, before getting a win over her pac-10 nemesis from Cal. This should move her up to the top 2 players ranked in College Tennis.  

Steve Johnson #7 lost to Rhyne Williams, Tennessee (1-6, 6-1, 6-4) in the final, Williams beat Johnson in the Ncaa singles championships last june. Johnson had good wins over players Austen Childs, Louisville and Blaz Rola, Ohio State in route to the final.  Johnson is at the end of the video 

USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships -- Day Two Action (via WeAreITA)

Locally at the 54th Southern Cal. Intercollegiate Championships USCs Jake Poldma beat Max TaBa Trong of ucla 6-3, 6-2 to take the championship, beating 2 other bruins along the way. Jake played #3 singles for USC last year and will be fighting for #2 this year.
