BUMPED - P
Here is a list from memory of the ucla QB injuries over the last decade. As you can see, they have only had 1 year with their starter playing in every game. Maybe this will deter Neuheisel in the future from going with an offense that exposes his QB to a higher chance of suffering a season ending injury. Prince only lasted 5 games this season. Poor kid never had a chance. I hope he gets a better O-Line and a pro-style offense next year for his sake.
ucla QB injuries
Bob Toledo
2002- Cory Paus- Shoulder in Cal game
2002- Drew Olson- Leg in Cal game
Karl Dorrell
2003- Matt Moore- Colorado game leg injury I think. Moore was named starter. He gets 3 more starts and transfers after hearing Dorrell call Drew Olson “the future” on the headset.
2004- Drew Olson starts all 12 games. Finishes season by blowing out 2 ligaments in his knee. He is questionable for fall camp
2005- Drew Olson starts all games. bruins go 10-2. No QB injuries.
2006- Ben Olson is injured in his 5th start with a torn MCL. Pat Cowan finishes the season and has a huge win over a certain rival program.
2007- Ben Olson is injured yet again in his sixth start with another ligament tear in his knee. Pat Cowan gets hurts knee in the Washington game. McLeod Bethel-Thomspon gets some starts as a 3rd string QB until Cowan returns. Osaar Rasshan starts the Las Vegas Bowl and throws 1 pass in the whole first half that falls incomplete.
Rick Neuheisel
2008- Pat Cowan Blows out knee in camp. Ben Olson breaks his glass feet again in camp without any contact. Kevin Craft leads the bruins in 2008.
2009- Kevin Prince breaks his jaw in the 2nd game of the year. Craft takes over and gets yelled at for making too many mistakes. Prince and Brehaut share time for the rest of the season, with Prince getting the majority of the snaps.
2010- Kevin Prince takes a hit to the knee in the Texas game. Has season ending knee surgery a few weeks later.
We didn't run the shotgun the entire time under Chow3 to 5 step drops from under center every time. We had the O-Line to handle it though. I don’t think the bruins have the ability to protect Prince. Its should be called the “Prince running for his life” offense.
Time to print up some“Save Prince” T Shirts
With a pistol circle slash symbol.

I haven't wasted a lot of time watching
the gutty little ones this year, but it seems like their OL isn’t up to the offense that Neuheisel recruits for, so they rewrite the play book , and end up with an offense that they QB can’t play, the OC can’t coach, their fanbase can’t stand to watch, and their opponents can’t wait to play against. Or something like that.
The OL hasn't been as bad as I thought they would be...
"What have they figured out?" "NOTHING." Lane Kiffin
"Mention USC to a Bruin and they get angry; mention UCLA to a Trojan and they laugh."
Having Norm Chow call plays for the pistol
is like filling up a Ferrari with Diesel. Its just not gonna run right.
My thoughts when I heard that they were going to the pistol
was that their QB was going to get hit more, and possibly injured more because of the increased exposure to getting hit on the run. Sad to say that I was right. This is one of the reasons why QBs aren’t doing the spread at the NFL level. The QB is too valuable to risk on this type of offense. In the college game, you only depend on a QB for a couple of seasons, in the NFL your team is a reflection of your QBs longevity at that position.
Using the pistol exposed Prince to this type of injury. I don’t think it was Chow’s idea at all, and it shows in his comments to the press. The truth of the matter is that Prince just isn’t very good under center as a pro style QB, but he is their best QB right now. If I was Neuheisel I would start a that true freshman that they are getting next season since the other QBs that he has don’t seem to have that “it” factor.
Going to the Pistol in Year 3 was a Move of Desperation
Why would Rick change his offense in his critical year 3? Because he knew he was running out of rope. It was a gamble. An act of desperation. And a horrible coaching miscalculation. UCLA simply does not have the right talent for the pistol system.
Rick should be held accountable for this terrible coaching decision and its epic failure.
You can't put sanctions on the fkn endzone! Bowls are for salad!
+1
Someone said it. Asking Chow to call plays for this team in the pistol if like putting diesel fuel in a Hemi

"You can't sanction heart, and you can't sanction the will to win" - USC QB, Matt Barkley
They call it a "Rite of Passage" over at fUcla
. . . . .when whatever new O-line is started/formed- and the QB they"re protecting GETS WHACKED AROUND to the point of injury. But when it came to Ben Olsen- all it took was a LB to stare wickedly at his ankles and . . . . .they’d break.
That Cowan-cat at QB over in Wastewood? That badass can crack, yo! I’ve seen, firsthand- his ass get switch-bladed TO THE GROUND!!!!!! And that little fuck just get right back up as if he was getting back to the video game he was playing. (it mighta looked like it to him, as it did to me. . . . but it sure as hell didn’t “feel” like that to him. i’ll tell you that much)
JUST BEAT THOSE FUCKING QUACKED-OUT DUCKS, AIGHT?
No matter what anyone thinks of Ucla, no body who ever watched that kid Cowan play could ever question his heart. That kid was nails. And he was just really easy to root for. Hell, I liked the kid, and felt sorry he had to endure one brutal ass kicking after another for all those misfits and brats wearing pastel blue. The fact is, Ucla didn’t deserve a kid like him – they basically fed him to the lions each game. And he took it and kept asking for another serving.
Prince has some of that same grit in him, too. And again, it’s a shame, because he’s going to be a peg-legged cripple by the time he graduates. I’m honestly surprised any QB with potential even considers Ucla, knowing they’ll be in for week after week of torture and the sort of savage beatings unemployed alcoholics give stepchildren.
Being an Old Blue means fearing any athletic success.
Its not really a question if a bruin QB goes to the NFL
Its a question if they will survive long enough to go to the NFL.
You're on!
Prince has got some “oomph” to his gitty-up, the boy can SCAMPER!
He actually looks “comfortable” in The Pistol, but that’s not saying the same thing as “looking good”. He’s got a solid arm, but I’m not sure about the space between his temples. He can’t read defenses, that you’d expect from a starting Pac 10 QB, and he goes through selections much too fast- which says to me that he’s jittery in the pocket. And the jitteriness stems from two main things: his distrust of his O-lineman AND not confident in his wideouts to run the proper/correct routes.
When Prince is “pistol-ing” it- he looks fairly decent. Only has to make one of two choices, and sometimes. . . . .he hits jackpot and runs in for a 40 yd touchdown or something. See- Texas game.
Damn!

For some reason ucla has always had a rash of injuries to their QBs and that goes back to Beban, I have always felt that they are Jinxes
Ricky has to be the DUMBEST Millionaire coach around, did he ever just leave a job that guy is always getting canned.
I love national championships it makes me feel superior to others, my whole place has USC stuff everywhere, it's painted red and gold, my car is the same colors my asscrack is bruin blue.
