Floyd on Mayo

For posterity's sake...

Interesting in how Garrett was "impressed"...

Looking back on it now makes just shake my head.

Boy, that jogs the memory

Excellent post. We could all use this reminder. Everyone was on board the OJ Mayo train. For me, I simply don’t see anything other than a passionate, genuine coach excited to work with a talented prospect and help him realize his NBA dreams.

The jaw dropper is solely Guillory. After Trepagnier, why in the world didn’t the ADs office blackball him from USC athletics?

Yep, Mike Garrett’s outfit screws up royally then whacks a bunch of innocent players; all per NCAA rules of course.

I love this coach!

That guy is a Trojan for LIFE! I just love this guy!

Sad to see him go and his reputation take such a hit. I’ll always battle for this guy. Damn!

I know

He was a great coach and passionate about his players. He wasn’t trying to cheat, just wanted to help kids and coach them up. Admin failed in oversight. I simply can’t blame Timmy.

I blame Garrett for not knowing better

and Tim for taking risks that were too great. If Tim was complicit in the cheating, then I sure as hell blame him. I think Floyd saw things differently. To him it was about getting his hands on the best players that he could. As long as they passed compliance, I’m sure that he didn’t think about such things as “Should I think about how this could go to crap,” or “Maybe this kid is too risky.”

Compliance should have known better. Garrett should have known better…. and yes coach Floyd should have known better.
