Interesting
Andy mentions Fresno St and Georgia, but they both had academic fraud. I’ve heard Ohio St mentioned as a comp, but don’t know enough about the story. Garrett mentioned the sanctions are “consistent with other schools.” I’d love to know which other schools. Of course, we don’t yet know the exact violations either.
But, the sanctions seem pretty strong for illicit benefits provided by a booster/runner with no direct wrongdoing from USC employees.

Good Source on Who Approved of Guillory
From GarryP, Publisher, WeAreSC: "I always thought it was one of the biggest mistakes Floyd ever made was to allow RG to hang around the program again but then I learned it was basically MG who gave the “seal of approval” for him to be around."

Yeah...bit of old news
I thought I read somewhere a couple of years ago that Garrett was impress with Mayi and that he was personally involved in his being cleared by the NCAA.
He obviously had a short memory WRT Guillory from the Trepangier mess…

Yah Garrett knew all about Guillory and was sold the notion that having Mayo=Ncaa champ.
Mikey has this fantasy that he wins the National Championship in BB, has since Bibby era, he is a total D-bag, he is so bad hell will not take him.
Fine the nearest cliff Mike Garret and put your car in Drive and step on the peddle.

Andy Katz is a damn good writer
That was a solid piece. I like his legwork on all the information he gathered from the NCAA/Pac-10 people. Now, that’s journalism. Seriously, the man is a keeper. (what’s his leanings on USC? Is he a hater or a non-hater?)
