They said we haven't beaten them this big

since we won by 20 in 1960 – is this the all time largest margin of victory over the Bruins?

USC over UCLA by 21 – “just like foot-ball!”

KO OWNS LA!!!

by DFWTrojan on Jan 16, 2010 8:10 PM PST reply actions

From LA Times

“The win is also USC’s biggest ever in Pauley Pavilion, which opened in 1965, not just USC’s biggest win in Pauley since 1993, as was previously stated. It was also USC’s biggest win against UCLA since winning 53-25 in 1945.”

A sample from Clown Nation

Hate to say it but SC is a much easier team to root for Despite being our rivals, I have to give credit where credit is due. SC plays ball the right way. They hustle, they play tough defense, they go after every loose ball, they don’t walk on eggshells scared to make mistakes, and most importantly have an identity. CBH’s team has none of these things. They were actually a joy to watch today as opposed to the pathetic performances that CBH’s team continues to put out there.

I find it hilarious that people are making such a big deal about SC not getting to play in the postseason this year so they are giving their all to the regular season. NEWSFLASH: UCLA isn’t going to the postseason either, not because of sanctions but because we aren’t any good. It would be nice if there was at least a little sense of urgency coming from CBH and his team instead of the going through the motions bullshit they have shown this season.

Nice

While I am glowing in victory, I started thinking about Benball a bit more deeply especially after perusing the propogandists comments on BN. I think some predicted a down year for Benball. But no one was thinking this. Their season is really bad, especially given the transfers.

Might CBH be in real trouble here? I actually respect him and think he is a classy guy. But, his style simply may not work well in SoCal. Although, his Final 4s say otherwise. Is Ben in trouble, or does he get a pass this season?

by DFWTrojan on Jan 16, 2010 9:58 PM PST up reply actions

I think that his style of coaching

is more easily disrupted by one-and-dones than other more uptempo programs, and he’s going to attract more of them to a higher profile program like UCLA. On the bright side (for them), it’s also far less dependent on the one-and-dones than other programs. I think he’ll need to adapt somewhat, either in coaching or recruiting, but I think that the Big East style of ball will always have a chance for success. I would hope that his coaching position wouldn’t be in trouble just because of this one year.

Great pic Rabbit...I saw that one over at BN

Boy are they having a hard time over there…jumping ship on Howland and the team.

I love this team and I’m excited about the future of Trojan Basketball. Let’s get that Pac-10 title boys!!!!

Just got back from the game.

Pictures to come. Movie of Neuheisel speech about Lane Kiffin at halftime coming up. Best performance of the night for the bruins was the juggler. That guy totally leads the Pac-10 in juggling.

by frak on Jan 16, 2010 10:48 PM PST reply actions

Leaving the ship

“The last 10 to 12 minutes, I just said we have to work on our man defense here,” Howland said. “We have to try to get back to what our identity is, which is being a defensive team man to man.”

By then the exodus was in motion, a fan migration for the exits with five minutes left. It became a stampede a minute later.
