too bad

yeah, we’ll have to live without chow which might work out. still, it could have been better. too bad kiffen’s ego wouldn’t let it happen.

It's idiotic to blame Kiffin for 13-9 or Texas

JDB was a huge step down from Leinart and you can’t blame Kiff for Booty’s inability to look away defenders or see over the line of scrimmage. Nice plan by Walker too, puhleez… all he had to do is get in Booty’s face and it was game over. Still, Kiff adjusted and the offense was rolling again until Booty failed again.

As far as Texas goes, we had a defensive meltdown, Reggie’s showboating, Rucker, the Tings, Jethro calling that stupid time-out, phantom touchdowns and above all one incredible performance by VY. To put it all on Kiffin is to not understand anything about football.

PC took more control over the offense in 2006

I believe that PC instructed Kiff and Sark to move to more of a ball control emphasis in 2006. He did not in 2005 because Leinart lobbied him not to. You are dead on that JDB’s shortness and immobility was our offensive achilles heel back then.

Also, purportedly on PMS, when asked by P about the 4th and 2 play against Texas: Lane acknowledged that PC called that play, overruling Sark and Kiff.

Kiff will be just as good as Chow would have been. He trained under Chow for 4 years. What we do need is a big name or hot QB coach for recruiting. Norm is a big name to throw at QB recruits. SC needs to have a great coach in that position too.

more importantly for kiffies long term development

is that he also spent a number of years with other good coaches. Not just chow, whose full passing game offense sc mostly has not run.

Kiffy’s first sensei was Tedford, this should be interesting.

Coach O was who I really wanted back

And we got him, so I’m thrilled.

Would have loved Chow, and welcomed him back with open arms, but I’m still really excited about this.

CHOW.....WHO!

From the first indication that Mr. Chow would ultimately sleep with the enemy two years ago, there has been the constant presumption that Chow was somehow the genesis of all the USC wins during his tenure. To many, his return to USC would of course be the needed tonic to revitalize the ills plaguing the Trojans.

Though not considering his record since his leaving, those many were simply exercising a false illusion of glory past. Things that were, are seldom again.

The constant lament of those same people, that USC has not, nor would not, ever again attain a National Championship without the services of one Mr. Chow was at times deafening, not to mention unfounded. Most; if not all of us have a tendency to take notice of celebrity, a celebrity that was bestowed upon Mr. Chow by the efforts and synergy of the TEAM, not of the head coach, assistant coach…but The TEAM.

Mr. Chow may continue to bask in the Sunshine of his past successes and in his own mind feel that his is worthy of ‘NFL MONEY’ However; the real fact of the matter is Mr. Chow’s best days are behind him, and until he wins another National Championship with whoever, he is and will continue to be ‘Just another moderately successful Offensive Coordinator’.

And as I was saying and saying for about 5 months that Chow did not develop Sanchez or Palmer.

Even though he takes credit, Mr Ego that he is, and why did the Titans cut him lose?

Good point

Vince was indeed a project for him. Was total opposite of the pocket-passer he was used to coaching. It made it no better that he was also a side-arm thrower.

He is just another good coach thats it , I mean how good is Prince after 2 years with chow.

he is the same QB he was in HS, QB-OCs coaches are great but it is the private coach that really develops a player in any sport. Along with competition, but after each endeavor usually the student gets with his PRIVATE coach to hammer things out.

Chow's a great coach

Normally he would be an asset for any team that he coaches for. The personality dynamics of the new Kiffin regime might make Norm more of a negative than a positive for us. Its probably for the best that he is staying put. If Kiffin and Norm could have put the past behind them and collaborated, it might have been magic. But we all know that these people are human, and its not a perfect fit because of the past.

Should have asked my question on here

Can anyone please read the post before this and answer me?

With one of the worst QB's in the SEC, see UCLA game

Kiff developed Crompton into 2,700 yrds, 27 TDs and 13 INTs. Kiff was a Chow protege’. We no longer need the mentor. Unleash Kiff.

Salient Point DFW

This past season we all watched the student vs. the Prof. and witnessed the results.
I would go as far to say, we will again witness such a performance.

To the Alum…Fight On!

To Kiff…Kick Some Ass!

Funny as it is at PN they are whooping it up about 13-9 and think they are in the drivers seat know

Thing that they forget is walker is gone and they are the mighty ruins.

Funny...No, Pathetic...Yes!

The ‘Faded Blue Crue’ use that one year as some kind of a benchmark, the winning of 1 game in 11 is by no means any indication of continued success, but rather a fluke. Of eleven graduating classes only ONE has enjoyed a victory over USC the rest have tasted the Agony of Defeat by a superior Team and University.

Funny you say, no I say Pathetic!
