UPDATED: NORM CHOW COMING BACK TO USC!!! "Reportedly in Negotiations"

UPDATE: I just heard Shelley Smith say on ESPN that USC is "reportedly in negotiations" with Norm Chow.

That is much different than Chow being a done deal.

So lets hold off on this...we will keep it up but for the sake of accuracy we will go into hold mode on this...

- - -

Shelly Smith just reported it...ON TV!

We'll See...

- - -

Quick thought...

Chow didn't have a problem with Kiffin it was with Sarkisian. Kiffin and Chow did bump heads but Chow didn't blame Kiffin for Pete Carroll allegedly pushing him out the door it was more on Sarkisian.

OK, that makes the hire better...

And really helps solidify the recruiting class for USC.

this day justckeeps on getting better. What is next?

You guys do Coaching Searches like they're wild one-night stands.

Insane, bat-shit crazy one-night stands with smoking hotties who will probably cause your dick to fall off and will only last about 30 minutes until everyone gets their rocks off and she gets up and walks out of the room before she’s even straightened her skirt.

A bit irrelevant

but Dillon Baxter was named MaxPreps Football Player of the Year. Is this the greatest day since winning the title in ’04? haha.

“it’s like getting the band back together”

Matt Barkley = baby Leinart?

alright...

so it looks like we have the best OC in college football..

best Defensive mind in College

a great young coach who will attract many people

and the best recruiter in collegee football..

what else do we need?

by matthewmafa on Jan 12, 2010 7:15 PM PST reply actions

And by that I mean Lane has to keep all the egos in check and working together, rather than having a self-destructive environment like the tension between Chow and Carroll.

by FightOn09 on Jan 12, 2010 7:45 PM PST up reply actions

This coaching crew

will destroy!!!!!!!!! Julio, watch our class, and see if we don’t get some new guys. Who are Tenn’s best recruits?

I just hope LAne gets out of the state of Tenn alive. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

Ahmad Dixon is coming on January 15th for his visit.

by Julio Nievas on Jan 12, 2010 9:53 PM PST up reply actions

the site i looked on

espn top 150 didnt say he was considering USC but alright.. i just read another site that said his stock has dropped and also it said lache seastruck stock has dropped too

by matthewmafa on Jan 12, 2010 10:50 PM PST up reply actions

Yeah

Both didn’t do great at the army bowl. Lache Seastrunk is a nice fast back, but another Joe McKnight. In other words, he’s not an every down back. He’s perfect for Oregon.

by Julio Nievas on Jan 12, 2010 10:53 PM PST up reply actions

You can’t entirely look at a player at one game though..

by Julio Nievas on Jan 12, 2010 10:54 PM PST up reply actions

Yeah pretty much. I would rather have Dillon Baxter than this dude, any day

by Julio Nievas on Jan 12, 2010 11:06 PM PST up reply actions

id rather have seantral henderson or jackson jeffcoat..

anyy word on if USC has any chance to get either of these 2?

by matthewmafa on Jan 12, 2010 11:19 PM PST up reply actions

not so

Congratulations....

But please admit one thing. Kiffen Jr. is a douchebag for leaving Tennessee like this.

Now. Please continue with your celebration.

by TigerPaw on Jan 12, 2010 8:04 PM PST reply actions

why is he a douche?

how did you want him to leave?

give you guys a 2 week notice? not take the job? what cuold he have done that would have not made him a douche

by matthewmafa on Jan 12, 2010 8:06 PM PST up reply actions

I think its a douchey move

and yes hiring a guy that would do this is risky…. and he will probably leave for an NFL job if he has a few good years with the Trojans.

But hey… thats big time college football for you.
I feel bad for the Vols. Maybe karma will bite USC in the ass down the road. Time will tell.

by frak on Jan 12, 2010 8:10 PM PST up reply actions

Well, Lane Kiffin may be a douche

But he’s our douche now I suppose. But really, I can’t be the only one who feels kind of ???? about this whole thing.

by Laughing Stock on Jan 12, 2010 8:53 PM PST up reply actions

Yeah I don't like the circumstances

Says a lot about his character. I’m sure Sark would have loved to be USC’s coach, but he chose not to bail on the Huskies.

by frak on Jan 12, 2010 9:54 PM PST up reply actions

I totally agree, and I feel bad for the Vols

but at least he jumped ship to come home. I’m not saying that makes it okay, but it does make it a little more understandable.

by Boy Howdy on Jan 12, 2010 9:57 PM PST up reply actions

no out

all usc has to do is pay 800,000 to buy out Kiffin. That’s a drop in the bucket.

by frak on Jan 12, 2010 10:27 PM PST up reply actions

I agree

This is likely his dream job. This is probably Sark’s dream job too. The difference between the two is that Sark felt that he couldn’t abandon his kids after 1 season. This is always going to follow Kiff around now. He will always be the guy who left Tennessee in an absolute mess. He’s going to have to live with that. As far as the USC team being a reflection of its coach, I hope that part of Kiffin doesn’t rub off on our players.

Somebody's gonna be left standing without a chair when all this ends

but a couple of weeks down the road, it’s not gonna be UT who ends up the worst, it’s gonna be a school a couple notches down the poaching chain. Don’t see them pulling something like what we just did, but they’ll get a staff together.

UPDATE

bruins blog is saying the reports that norm chow are coming to USC are FALSE….

by matthewmafa on Jan 12, 2010 8:15 PM PST reply actions

Shelley Smith backtracked from her assertion too in her second report on ESPN News

went from “Norm Chow is coming to USC” to “USC is trying to finalize Norm Chow to USC”. Maybe it still happens, but interesting nevertheless.

yeah

without him/… who would be OC?? our offense would be bad cause everyone would be focused on D

by matthewmafa on Jan 12, 2010 8:56 PM PST up reply actions

Monte was at $1.5m at Tenn

Really curious as to what this all-star staff is costing. Chow certainly is worth $1-1.5m. Bring back NORM!

From the Daily News' Inside UCLA blog...

“Multiple sources have confirmed Norm Chow is negotiating a contract to leave UCLA to become the offensive coordinator for USC.”

http://www.insidesocal.com/ucla/2010/01/hearing-chow-gone-from-multipl.html

by AaronBW on Jan 12, 2010 9:03 PM PST reply actions

Maybe not. Another update...

As soon as I could refresh this was posted,

“After hearing from multiple sources that Norm Chow was negotiating with USC, I am now hearing that he is going to stay at UCLA. I’m getting this from people very, very close to the UCLA situation.
I have not heard from anyone at UCLA about the matter on the record, and you’ll be the first to know when I do.”

by AaronBW on Jan 12, 2010 9:06 PM PST reply actions

Regardless what happens with Chow, InsideFucla is imploding and they are thrashing Chow.
