Banning is their game, now if they could just see the light
Here we go again BN wants another writer banned from Ucla, TJ Simers. Hey I have never liked this guy but he is who he is and I can't change that. BN has already asked for a ban on Marcia Smith and Al Balderas of OC register, now they hate Simers like who doesn't. I got to give it to them they are more consistent than the FB program, but do they really think anyone listens. They now are talking about canceling their subscriptions to the Times, I hadn't had one for 25 years like thats going to make a difference. They used to make me mad but now all Nestor and TyCan'tes does is Crack me up, thanks for the laughs fools.

LOL, ban them, ban them all
Mushroom, the supposed advocate of free media, shows his real colors again. Now, time for them to go back to their regular obSCession

When I read "he" didn't want to insert a link. . . .
. . . . .to: (A)- TJ Simers, (B)- the article Simers wrote, and ©- the paper who employs said writer. . . . .I thought to myself, “Why even bother to get on your soapbox, homey? You just gave the paper, the article, and the columnist 45 minutes of writing time!” ????
How retarded is that?
And we wonder about “government waste”? The guy (Nestor) has a hard-on for. . . .himself. Only a person enveloped in narcissism would distance themselves from similarly predisposed individuals (contrarian; negative; dismissive; and at times hateful) and lunge toward blanket generalities in defining those very same individuals and abbreviate their respective similarities to the singularity of liknesses to an Escher array.
TJ Simers is a fantastic writer, even when he writes about someone I like. He’s even funnier when he writes about someone I could care less about. What separates Simers from Nestor is humor. Simers doesn’t take himself seriously while disparaging others. He calls a spade a spade when he sees fit to while at the same time adding some colorful anecdotes about his own failings and failures to let everybody off the hook. And. . . . Simers has talent, something woefully absent in anything the BN ever produces.
Hey BN crowd and managers: take your own advice and just elect NOT TO READ Simers! (hey! there’s a thought, no?)

Man, Bix...we were getting along so well
And then you had to go and say that Simers has talent. A talent for eliciting a response, perhaps. But that’s about it.

Yeah, but that's what drives the business
it’s the controversy.
by the way, I was surprised your comment about CC moderators trying to help with your cause was deleted by BN. Is there that much hate going around?

I don't think it's been deleted. Unless it's just a cache issue, it still appears in my browser.
My comment about the CC moderators (and sincerely- they are some great, great people) is right here:

As for the first point about controversy driving the business- sadly, I must agree with you. Not that I’m opposed to controversy in general. It’s just the manufactured, humorless, vitriolic kind that does nothing for me.

Something tells me, insomniacs. . . . .
. . . .that TJ Simers and the Sports Editors over at the LAT could care less what TJ’s (or any other writer’s) “response” to anything they’ve written is. Is there something “I don’t know” about journalism?" I mean, I could just see the fine print in an employment contract over at the LAT- “Journalist MUST get 5 responses for every column written”. . . . . .WTF?
Seriously, the LAT could care less what you or I or Joe Blow thinks. TJ Simers’ job is safe, at least as long as there’s newsprint media. All that ranting and raving over at BN regarding a silly little article that was quite humorous is much ado about nothing. Do you guys seriously think TJ cares about your reaction to his columns? We’re talking TJ Simers here dude.

Well, I agree with a great deal of what you've written here
I agree that the LA Times is not going to be bothered in the least over the content of the responses elicited by fans of either side. They’re just happy to have a readership. For that reason, as long as the Times is around (which for better or worse, I hope is a long time), I’ll expect Simers’ words to be on their pages.
My only contention was with your assessment of Simers as funny. He just doesn’t do it for me.

I apologize to Mursh if it was never deleted
But it appeared to me that it was gone for a day and re-appeared

Simer is a one trick pony
He tries to get everyone pissed off so they write in. Then he takes the biggest weirdos to put in his “These people live among you” column. He loves stirring the pot, thats his thing.

Simers is a self-styled provocateur
and not a very good one-I’ve seen one of the best (Jay Marriotti) here in Chicago, and Simers is third-rate compared to Marriotti.
The only time Simers is funny, or interesting, is when he is flaming your hated rivals. He doesn’t report stories, his opinion pieces lack even a pretense of substance, his humor (such as it is) is pedestrian, and whatever intelligence the man possesses is never in evidence. In short, he is a hack, and not even a medicocre one. His aspiration is to be medicore some day, a goal I believe is unreachable.

I tend to agree with you
He tends to write more about peoples personalities, and his mood, rather than sports.

You gotta temper your hated enthusiasm
Take a pill and “just read” the guy. Is he off putting? Yes. Does he lie? Hell no.
You don’t like “human pieces” in sports section, don’t read him. And my god, Jay Mariotti? You have a far better one in Mike Downey. Downey skies above Mariotti.
For a 3rd rate columnist, TJ gets paid BANK! (and I’m sure he could care less what Bruins or Trojans think of him)

He is laughing all the way to the bank
In the past TJs stuff would bother me because it really has no content, as page 2 used to have with Allen Malamudd. So generally I don’t read Slimers stuff and when someone complains about him now I just say thats TJ.

Simers is at his best
when he’s raking the “Spanos Goofs” over the coals and generally dumping on San Diego for their (yes it’s true) LA inferiority complex.

He had me cracking up like something else when he wrote about. . . .
. . . .that racehorse and all those people who called it a “hero”. That sh_t was just classic! The Spanos Goofs, Mark Cuban, Kevin What’s His Name (pitcher for the Dodgers a few years back), and Andruw Jones. . . . . just classic Simers!
