A post wishing Stafon Johnson well, with many kind comments from the folks at Bruins Nation. I sincerely hope no Bruins suffer anything like that, but if they do, I know we'll respond in kind.

I still can't believe Nestor wrote that

someone must have posted that for him.

Don't worry

I’m sure he will be back to his old self in short order. Probably when Stafon leaves the ICU.

whoa.. man, you are cynical… You should be in the Navy

Maybe my attitude is poor on this

But I think that most of the bruins that read this site know me to be pretty level headed. I just think Nestor and his pals over at BN need to look in the mirror and ask themselves why it takes a death, or a tragic accident for them to behave like rational decent people towards their rival. Personally I find it incredibly bad taste for any of the hate mongering nestorites to even comment on this. For all of those bruins that aren’t subscribers to the crap that Nestor spews, this excludes you of course.

You may find it cynical, but thats how I feel about those guys.

Yes this is how I see it also, I mean the fact is that most of the nestors can still come here and comment.

A high % of CCs can’t at their site because we happen to disagree and or stand-up for ourselves. Before I even came to this site I used to comment on all things Trojan, and the Tydides person messed with me. I had no idea who this brat was until I came to SB nation and saw the laundry list, I said wow now I get it. Thinking of history It really reminded me of the nazi movement that I studied in HS History classes.

I was brought up to to respect others and give them a chance to prove themselves, before I just didn’t associate with any longer. The funny thing is that before I read the BN propaganda, I used to support UCLA athletics. I have been doing that since my cousin went to Ucla since 1963, but not when they played USC. I have had many of friend go to Ucla and a few to to be stand out stars there, thats why I don’t see BN.

I don't want to turn this into a debate about BN

I just find it extremely hypocritical that they spit out vitriol and garbage 99% of the year, and it takes things like Danelo, Francis, and Stafon for them to turn off the crap fountain and act decent. It just comes off as disingenuous to me.

Yah I see your point I just had to say my piece, i really had to think about it before I decided to say it.

Lets just say get well Stafon keep up your studies and Fight On!

Your reaction is understandable

because we’ve been conditioned to be cynical. When you get comments like this…

Whatever twist of fate keeps doing horrible things to young Trojan men needs to stop…now. Drean Rucker, Mario Danelo, Ryan Francis, to a lesser – but still incredibly crappy extent – Frankie Telfort, and now this horrible incident.
you wonder if there’s an ulterior motive. What’s this guy ucla84 saying? That there’s some kind of “curse” on our athetes? Look, I hate to raise questions at this time, but the canard about the “safety” of Westwood vs. the “danger” of “South Central” is one they use so often, you have to wonder if this isn’t just some new macabre angle.

Well he did take the Serena Williams angle on it it took him over 24 hrs

I've often said that the vast majority of our football rivals

are intelligent and sensible people, and that I count several Bruins among my closest friends. It’s heartening to see the Bears, Ducks, Huskies, and yes the BN, as well as many others come through when the chips are down.
Then you have tools like “Bill,” a relentless antagonist at the dumster fire that is the Wolfbag

Bill said:
InsideUSC: Pete Carroll said Stafon Johnson’s injury is not “life threatening”
Translated – “Stop being a pansy and get on the field or you will be at the bottom of the depth chart!!”
Have a speedy recovery and go pro! Then Cheaty Pete can talk crap about you too.

It’s at times like these that you see the best and the worst in people.

Wow, that is BS.

I’m just glad that a random accident like this isn’t causing more trauma in Stafon’s life. Kinda makes you think about all those times where something could have gone wrong & how radically different life would be. Makes you grateful & think that something/someone is looking out for you. Stafon is definitely lucky & blessed.

The really hard part is that Stafon finally “got it together” and was a projected 4th round pick in next year’s draft. He has a baby and was looking forward to providing for him. Unfortunately there is significant probability that he will not be allowed to play football again.

Ugh, that really really sucks. Well, if Stafon wasn’t insured then at least his baby won’t have to grow up without a father. Even if he can’t play football again, he’ll still graduate from a good university & certainly have career opportunities. He certainly appears to have the work ethic to maximize his rehabilitation (whatever that may be) so here’s to hoping he comes out on top.

While I have some reservations, which I won't voice

Good job by BN to cover the SJ situation. Also, props to SJ’s Dorsey Teammates and current Bruins – Franklin and Rahim “Interception Machine” Moore

BN says Fight On Stafon

And that’s all that matters. This ain’t really the place to criticize BN posters. It’s an amazingly class act by Nestor and all the other BN fans to pour out such support for Stafon. Thank you Bruin Nation.

FWIW

I just posted a “Thanks” note on Bruins Nation. They deserve it.

by uscdude on Sep 30, 2009 7:53 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

That was a very nice gesture on the part of BN to post the address to where fans can send their best wishes. And the comments have been almost universally positive and supportive.

Overall it seems this was a pretty universal response and shows that most fans do get it regardless of their colors. But I’m more heartened by the fact that most people get it anyway without needing something of this nature to force civilized behavior.

Sure, there is some jawing and playful taunts & pokes here and there, but it’s almost never done with real malice, and there is an underlying understanding and respect.

One can only hope that this signals a subtle change in the blogs for a bit more open-mindedness and all that.

I knew my opinion wasn't going to be a popular one

I’m just calling it like I see it. You are right. Most people get it. Most taunting is playful and respectful. But that isn’t nestor. The gesture is a nice one, no doubt. But is he really going to change? No. Is he going to alter his behavior in the future? Doubtful. Some people might think this isn’t the place for this, and I’m sorry if I offended anyone, but I’m not giving nestor or his cronies any gold stars because of the garbage that’s come from them in the past, and the garbage that will probably come from them in the future.

Aren’t they working for Waste Management now that they got fired from the pizza hut.
