I liked the Buster Sports read

It’s almost predictable how certain segments of the college football world like to point out that Coach Carroll has “underachieved” because he’s only won 7 straight Pac 10 titles and only 2 – 4 national championships (depending on who’s hating and who’s loving). This myopic view of success would be laughable if it weren’t so laughable. According to Buster Sports, USC is the No. 1 Offense and No. 1 Defense in the PAC 10 this decade. The conclusion was drawn by how many college players Pete Carroll has produced (based on draft pick, not on NFL performance) the most players going into the NFL than anyone in the recent past and so it’s not that the USC football has fallen short or underachieved- USC’s staff has more than lived up to their end of the bargain when they developed their student-athletes to maximize their athletic potential and gave them a chance to compete on the field and in the classroom. Entrusting Pete Carroll for the welfare, health, safety, and mentorship of their once teenage boys, hoping he’d turn them into fine young men has been an incredible experience for one and all.

On that front, the Buster Sports recognition of placing USC #1 in both categories is validation of that.

Fight On!
